Historical Note The file contains specifications for art works to be commissioned for LaGuardia Community College. Under college administrative agreement several artists were approached regarding a commission to have their sculpture reviewed by the College Art Selection Committee for installation in the newly redesigned E building. These series contains the report of the Art Selection Committee detailing their activities during the period January to April 1989. The report discusses the number of applicants who submitted proposals, the selection process and the Committee s timetable through the end of June 1989. Scope and Content Note The Art Selection Committee Papers is approximately 1.5 linear foot and is stored in three archival boxes. There are four series in the collection, consisting mostly of paper documents but also includes a number of projection slides of the artwork and spaces they are held in. Arrangement Note Art Selection Committee is comprised of three series Series I: Art Selection Committee Subseries A: Committee Activities Subseries B: Commissions Subseries C: Correspondences Series II: Sites Series III: Artists, and Artworks Series IV: Description of Artworks Itemized List of Selected Artist Folders 3

Series Descriptions and Container List Series I: Art Selection Committee This series contains papers relating to the Art Selection Committee focusing on correspondences, memorandums, committee activities and budgets. Subseries A: Committee Activities This subseries contains reports relating to the general activities of the committee and requests for proposals of art works.
