ANDREA FACONDINI (Team GREEN) Landscape engineer. From Rimini (Italy). My name is Andrea Facondini and I am 31 years old. I graduated in Environmental Engineering at Alma Mater Studiorum of Bologna, Italy, on January 2008. During the university I developed my study with specialization about hydraulic works, water treatment plants, hydrology analysis and environmental analysis. I am graduated as engineer till July 2008. From 2008 I work in an engineering and architecture office in Riccione called Polistudio S.r.l, where I can experience about: design and management of major hydraulic works, road infrastructure, sewerage, technological networks, street furniture, water treatment plants, mechanical systems for medium and large size buildings and environmental analysis. ANGELO FIGLIOLA (Team GREEN) Architect. From Teramo (Italy). Architect and PhD candidate focused on the emergent technologies for environmental design. My cultural and scientific training has attempted to address the various issues related to the centrality of the project in relation to the environment context in connection with the rapidly evolving technological innovations in the contemporary era. Architecture today is called to give concrete answers to problems of general interest such as energy resources consumption and building systems obsolescence: about this I am convinced that innovation and research are a necessity considering the worldwide key role architecture plays. BERNARDETTE SOUST VERDAGUER (Team YELLOW) Architect. From Sevilla (Spain). Bernardette Soust is an architect by the Universidad de la República, Uruguay. She has been specialized in building environmental assessments methods and tools in the Ecole Nationale Superieure d'architecture de Marseille and the University of Seville. Her work brings together research, teaching and professional practice, as PhD student in the University of Seville and as architect collaborator in MEDIOMUNDO arquitectos. She has participated in differents conferences, workshops and publishes works related to the sustainability applied to the built environment.
CARLO DI MAURO (Team BLUE) Environmental engineer. From Trento (Italy). My skills are mainly related to the field of construction industry in the field of site supervisor, job accounting, and safety manager. I have an experience of almost ten years. In addition to my main activity linked to construction sites I have always been interested to the energy linked to construction. I attended courses for CasaClima consultant and became energy certifier of the province of Trento. Currently looking for a new business trend linked to the performance efficiency of buildings is in the design phase and in the execution phase. This seminar will be a boost to the design phase. EMANUELE MONDIN (Team YELLOW) Architect. From Vicenza (Italy). I spent several years in Milan, Stockholm and Vicenza studying, learning and working in the field of architecture. I started my office in my hometown 2 years ago, aware that Italy is a country where in the last 60 years too many buildings have been designed and built with very poor aesthetic and energetic qualities. I like the analogy between architect and director: in both fields you have to be able to speak with everyone, from conceptual artist to the last of workmen, having your target clear on your mind. GUIDO ZANZOTTERA (Team YELLOW - team leader) Energy engineer. From Turin (Italy). "Energy Engineer, he is an Energy Modeller and Sustainability Consultant for Ai Engineering, working on various projects over the Italian territory and abroad; he s also tutor of the academic course in "Sustainable Architecture" at Polytechnic of Turin. He s a LEED AP professional with specialty for Existing Building: Operation and Maintenance. He worked on a LEED Platinum Certified building in Switzerland and on the design and construction of a Net+Nearly Zero Energy Building in Italy."
IOANA PRODAN (Team BLUE - team leader) Architect. From Brasov (Romania). I am an architect and a green building professional with strong believes that we can create a healthy environment with the power of nature itself and with the power of our senses. I invest in a multidisciplinary future of Romanian education and in a strong synergy between business and universities through the SDB NGO and Solar Decathlon Europe competition. Our imagination is a map for our lives. I mix dreams and reality for more possibilities, curiosity and willingness for experiences. JULIO FERNANDEZ DURAN (Team BLUE) Architect and mechanical engineer. From Barcelona (Spain). Hi, I am Juli from Barcelona, mechanical engineer, master in architecture and sustainability and LEED Green Associate. I got my first job in an environmental engineering office. A few years later I decided to join environment and architecture as a way to work and keep studying on it. I am very interested in building sustainable certifications. At this moment I work at the Municipal Housing Board of Barcelona s as a building engineer. I love travelling. LOREDANA BRUMĂ (Team GREEN - team leader) Architect. From Bucharest (Romania). Having an educational background in architecture, with a strong focus on the integration of the architectural heritage in the urban development process, the social aspects involved and the multidisciplinary approach in sustainable development of urban and rural communities, my professional profile is filled with different types of experiments meant to answer as much as possible to the HOWs and WHYs involved in the process of the contemporary architecture production. LUIGI GRECO (Team YELLOW) Urban planner. From Agrigento (Italy). I am a dynamic and curious person, during my studies and my professional experiences I got in contact with some of the most interesting practices related to sustainability and sustainable urban planning with a clear approach to low tech tactics, tools and strategies. I studied and then apply in my design: agriculture of proximity, crafts, reuse and urban activism and I supported active citizenship in the self-building of their own spaces. My challenge is to bring each of these practices in my projects and communicate the benefits of a nature centered design. MAIJA KRIZMANE (Team YELLOW) Civil engineer. From Riga (Latvia). I am a green building enthusiast with a broad scale experience in sustainability field starting from design features mainly on efficient CHP and micro CHP design and going further to global cooperation on sustainability agenda and research. I am currently developing my Ph.D thesis on criteria for resilient building features in Latvia in close cooperation with Latvian Sustainable Building council. I have an international experience working with various aspects of sustainability not only in Europe, but also in the US. My moto is you can only regret what you have not done, because everything else makes you who you are! MAROJE SUŠAC (Team GREEN) Civil engineer. From Zagreb (Croatia). I hold a Master degree in civil engineering obtained from University of Zagreb, Croatia, Faculty of Civil Engineering with field of expertise in Transportation. I am employed at DARH 2 L.l.c., company for architecture and acoustics, at the position as authorized design engineer, energy performance certified and person for conducting safety at work with over 8 years experience. My key qualifications are experience in designing, supervising and energy performance. As an accredited energy performance assessor for buildings my task is to produce energy performance certificate (EPC) based on energy assessment in accordance with methodology for energy audit of buildings. In this field I have extensive experience, over 50 buildings with simple and complex technical systems. I have a working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, etc. and energy software like AX 3000, KI Expert and EnCert. My hobbies are basketball, hiking and digital photography.
NINA MIA ČIKEŠ (Team BLUE) Architect. From Zagreb (Croatia). She graduated in 2012 with an MA in Architecture and Urban Planning. She was the recipient of multiple scholarships and awards during her time at university, which was largely devoted to the multidisciplinary research exploring the concepts of sustainable revitalization and re-identification of sites that have undergone intensive industrialization. In the past few years Nina has worked for VOGT landscape architects in Berlin and for the City Office for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development in the City of Zagreb where she is currently employed. She spends her spare time as the head of an organization for promotion Croatian art in Europe called ULAZ. From Rimini (Italy). I am 29 years old and I graduated in Architecture at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio (AAM), Switzerland on May, 2010. During the university I worked one year in an architecture office in Locarno and Bellinzona. After graduation I lived 4 months in London where I studied English and I developed my passion for paintings and drawing that is my second employment (you can see that on www.pietromarsciani.com). From 2011 I work in an engineering and architecture office in Riccione called Polistudio, where I can experience about different aspects of the buildings. During these years Il learned different computer programs, including Rhino, 3D Studio Max, Autocad, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop and others. ROBERTA LINGUA (Team GREEN) Architect. From Cuneo (Italy). Degree in architecture for sustainability at the Politecnico of Turin, with a degree in architectural design and technological innovation entitled "project for the compact city: a sustainable House project between Nice and Square the Turin Porta Nuova". Interest in sustainable materials leads me since the days of curricular training looking for studies or/and construction companies that deal with this topic, so I do my undergraduate training at a construction firm that uses a wooden frame building system, an innovative system albeit tied to tradition. This experience leads me to learn about the great benefits of the wooden building, passion resulted from the visit in the pipeline and which becomes the actual theme of my master's thesis. The predilection for this material led me to investigate how its properties could be improved through the use of appropriate insulating and coatings and ad-hoc project. Such research has therefore given my will to become CasaClima certification. I believe that architecture has a great social role. An excellent tool to understand a place and people that live is the photo, my great passion.
