When you receive your membership number you can start bidding for properties. Most homes we advertise are still occupied; you cannot view them before bidding on the property. Who gets offered the property? ll bids are put into a shortlist. 5% of properties are offered to the applicant who has the highest level of priority. If more than one applicant has the same level of priority then the applicant who has had the priority longest will be offered the property. 5% of properties are let to the applicant who has been on the Leeds Register the longest and has a local connection to the Ward area of the property, regardless of their priority level. In some circumstances, the applicant who is at the top of the shortlist may not be offered the property, for example if they do not need that property type or size, or if they have rent arrears or have committed anti-social behaviour. If you own your own home and are in and then you will be treated as having being on the Leeds Register for a maximum of six months regardless of how long you have been on the register. If you are a ouncil tenant in and then we may inspect your property before you move to another ouncil tenancy, to ensure there is no damage to the property. We may not offer you a home if you cannot afford it. If you are under 1 then you are required by law to have a responsible adult to act as a trustee. If you are successful then you will be contacted by the landlord. You will not be contacted if you are unsuccessful. How long will I have to wait for a home? Waiting times vary between area and property type. Some adverts give information about the lettings of similar properties that have been previously advertised.
