Be sure to spread the word by sending out the invitation via email, and posting to social media! As always, many people have stepped up to make it all happen - now all we need is for people to come! On another front, I have very good news concerning the Franklin Cultural District initiative. As you know, the committee has been working for over a year on this project. The Franklin Cultural Festival held this past summer was a key kick-off event, bringing awareness to the community of all the cultural assets we have in Franklin. In order to have a downtown cultural district, the Town of Franklin must seek approval from the Massachusetts Cultural Commission. An application needs to be filed by the Town. It is quite an involved process. The Town is firmly behind this endeavor. On that note, we are very fortunate to have Franklin s Department of Planning and Community Development take the lead on this project, in conjunction with cultural district committee members. Bryan Taberner, Director of Planning and Community Development has recently collaborated with six Clark University graduate students, whose capstone project will be completing Franklin s Cultural District application, including developing the management structure, communications and marketing. It s encouraging to know that this effort is moving forward, and that the Franklin Art Association will continue to be an important stakeholder in this initiative. Looking forward to seeing you all at the show! Warm regards, Sue Sheridan President FAA Monthly Meeting/Demos Meetings take place at the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill St., Franklin, MA across from St. Mary s church, from 6:30 to ~9pm, the first Wednesday of every month, September through May.
