SOTHEBY S IS PROUD TO SUPPORT A CHARITY AUCTION OF THE QUEEN SONJA PRINT AWARD The auction will celebrate H.M. Queen Sonja Art Foundation established in 2011 to generate interest in and promote the development of graphic art. The Foundation presents the Queen Sonja Print Award every other year. The first award was given to Tiina Kivinen in 2012. In order to raise the profile of the prize from a Nordic to an international level, the first international award was given to Tauba Auerbach in 2016. For the past 40 years I have dreamed of establishing an award for the purpose of encouraging young artists, says Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway. Mark Poltimore, Deputy Chairman, Sotheby s Europe and Chairman Sotheby s Russia and Scandinavia, will conduct the auction. The auction will take place at Sotheby s on 26 th September, 6-7 St George Street, London at 6.30pm. By supporting this event you will be joining us in strengthening the role of printmaking and printmakers on the international art scene and bring emphasis to graphic art in all its expressions and techniques. On the fall of the auctioneer's hammer, the highest bidder shall be deemed to have purchased the offered lot subject to all of the conditions set forth herein and thereupon (a) assumes the risk and responsibility thereof, (b) will sign a confirmation of purchase thereof and (c) will pay the full purchase price or such part as H.M. Queen Sonja Art Foundation may require. H.M. Queen Sonja Art Foundation will not release a lot to a successful buyer until payment of the total amount due has been made.
