COMMUNITY SURVEY RESULTS A questionnaire was made available to West Goshen Township residents via internet and hard copy as a means to gather input on various land planning issues. A hard copy of the survey was mailed to every household in the Township. A total of 1,243 responses were received. Assuming each response represents one household, the response rate is %. Two-thirds of survey respondents are age 55 and over, and there were no respondents under age 22. Approximately 45% of respondents have lived in the Township for 25 years or more, and 92% of respondents live in a single-family detached home. The survey indicates that: West Goshen Township is a great place to live Township services, including emergency services, parks, and utilities are excellent The Township needs to address traffic/transportation, road condition and maintenance, and pedestrian and bicycle access and safety Residents want to protect water quality Residents strongly favor preservation of natural and historic resources A greater percentage of residents are not in favor of expanding opportunities for retail and commercial business than are in favor of it The township needs more walking and biking paths, more public open space, more and better public transportation, and more senior activities The survey indicates that the greatest improvement needs are: Better traffic control/management, circulation Better road conditions/maintenance/safety More opportunities for safe walking and bicycling More public open space More and better public transportation More senior activities More affordable housing
