The reason for the change in format is to reduce the size of the document on your computer screen. Each topic is headlined and if you are interested in a particular topic, simple click the link to go to the full text. The RIAI website will open in your Internet browser. ARCHITECTURE Vote for the RIAI Gold Medal Special Award The RIAI Gold Medal is awarded three to five years after completion so buildings can be judged in a mature state. A short-list of ten has been selected by the Jury. The winner and highly commended and commended awards will be announced and presented by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, on November 10th 2005. A special award will be made to the building receiving the most votes in the web poll. This is your opportunity to participate in the process. Voting closes on 31 October 2005. more... B. PRACTICE RIAI Independent Survey of Fees and Charges RIAI President Tony Reddy has recently written to all RIAI Practices urging their cooperation with the second independent Fee Survey Questionnaire and highlighting the
importance of filling and returning the questionnaire to the independent surveyors. The questionnaire should be with RIAI Practices by the middle of this week. The date for the return of the questionnaire is Friday 11th November 2005. NEWS New RIAI Exhibition: "Building Better Communities" As part of the Loving Architecture festival, this exhibition has been aimed at the public, opinion formers and policy maker to show what can be done when good urban design techniques are employed. Using schemes from RIAI practices, it highlights the need for this level of forward planning and design at all levels on a national scale. Result of UIA Competition: Performing Arts Centre Seoul The Committee for a Performing Arts Centre launched, in May 2005, an international ideas competition in a single stage for the architectural design of a vast cultural complex.
