April 13 th -16 th 2016 ITALY - DRO (TN) CENTRALE di FIES by MACRO DESIGN STUDIO and LIVING BUILDING CHALLENGE COLLABORATIVE: ITALY With INTERNATIONAL LIVING FUTURE INSTITUTE

What It is a design workshop in which teams composed of young professionals are called to develop a project of sustainable requalification of an existing public building for the local community. Every team should respond to specific requirements defined in the announcement. Integrative design, synergistic development of the project and sharing of expertise are necessary prerogatives to tackle this challenge. The purpose of the competition is to show the best sustainable regeneration project for the existing building in terms of architecture, energy efficiency, liveability and relationship with social, urban and natural context. Criteria used by the Jury to select the winning project will be announced at the beginning of the competition. Official language: English Tools Teams are composed by single participants. Every contestant will contribute with his own background, experience and vision to the achievement of the project objectives. Teams have to develop their project following the guidelines of the Living Building Challenge standard, version 3.0 (LBC 3.0). The LBC handbooks will be sent to each team leader before the workshop. Where Centrale Fies (Dro Trento, Italy) is a centre for the creation and production of contemporary art including performing art, exhibit, site specific, video and any form of live performance and of events such as festivals, exposition and shows; but it is also a very unique location equipped to host corporate meetings, round-table conferences and workshops, see www.centralefies.it. Centrale Fies is the physical place where the competition will take place and is the home hosting the teams for their stay on site. Presentation It s time to imagine a living future and a world of living buildings. The Living Buildings ChallengeSM is a philosophy, certification and advocacy tool for projects to move beyond merely being less bad and to become truly regenerative. The Challenge defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today and acts to rapidly diminish the gap between current limits and the end-game positive solutions we seek. The conference is connected to REGENERATION, the 64 hours European competition organized by Macro Design Studio together with the International Living Future Institute and also represents the annual main event of the Living Building Challenge Collaborative: Italy, a community-based group sharing knowledge and creating the local conditions that support development of Living Buildings, Sites and Communities.
