PROGRAM GUIDE VENICE ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE Opening of the Biennale May - The program is a balanced combination of classes on contemporary architecture, meetings with architects, visits to incredible museums and preview parties. It is a rare opportunity to see historic Venetian palazzos before they open to the public, observe the setup of the exhibition and meet international creative crowd. Classes: Curating architecture A history of the Biennale Architettura Organizing National pavilion/case study from the curator Collateral events during the Biennale Protecting the city: Venice for Venetians and Venice for the world. Visits: Palazzo Bembo Palazzo Mora Biennale (Giardini and Arsenale) Architecture studio National pavilions in the city center Invitation to two preview parties is included into the course. VENICE BIENNALE Dates in : June - July - August - November - This week will get to grips with the. Biennale Architettura. Large in scale and, for that reason, often times intimidating. You will really see and understand the Biennale: it's history, contemporary position on the world stage, it's unique model of exhibiting, and why it's considered to be so important. Classes: Curating Architecture A history of the Biennale Architettura; Case study: Organising national pavilion; Protecting the city: Venice for Venetians and Venice for the world; Personal experience: curator & architect. Visits: Multiple guided visits to National Participations Central Pavilion and pre-selected collateral events are the key part of the course Visit to Querini Stampalia Visit to Olivetti showroom (Carlo Scarpa).
PROGRAM GUIDE continued CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE July - August - The week focuses on architecture and will explore: the relationship between people and building; the question of contemporary preservation; architecture and public space; and the methods and means of communicating buildings. It includes a hands-on workshop in the city and visits to world-renowned projects. DESIGN: THE WORLD AROUND US June -0 July - August - This week will focus on understanding the role of design and will aim to reveal its enduring relevance. We will meet designers at their studios, visit most important design exhibitions in the city. We will also explore its relationship to architecture. Classes: The Craft of Glass The world of copies The design of infrastructure The business of design: design fairs, buying and selling Trends in Design: how to predict and use them. Visits: The Olivetti Showroom Ottica Urbani Venice Design Murano glass studio Local design studio Venice Biennale La Partigiana. CONTEMPORARY ART June - The course explores contemporary art scene in Italy. We visit artist residences, best galleries in Venice and amazing museums. Experienced curators share insights on creating a successful project in the context of the Venice Biennale and talk openly and honestly about current challenges in the art sector. Participants visit Fondazione Prada and Peggy Guggenheim Collection and visit Murano glass studio. Classes: Contemporary Curatorial practices Exhibition creation and development Art market. VENICE ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE -DAY VENICE BIENNALE CRASH COURSE May - July - October - 00 euro A super-intense power course for busy professionals. During three days you'll learn how the Biennale is organized and how to become a part of it. We visit the best national representations and collateral events. We meet organizers, curators and architects involved in the Biennale.
