Offered in Post War to Present on 27 September at Christie s in New York Who? Named a young female artist to watch by Bloomberg in 2017, New York-based artist Loie Hollowell s highly textural paintings focus on the figure and the still life. Reminiscent of the work of Georgia O Keeffe, Hollowell s canvases feature primordial forms in highly saturated colours.

If you like this artist s work, you might also enjoy: George Condo and Neil Raitt. Recent exhibitions: Hollowell was added to Pace Gallery s roster last year, debuting at the gallery s Palo Alto space in September 2017 with Point of Entry. A second exhibition, Dominant/Recessive, will be on view at Pace London from 28 August to 20 September 2018. Market: Hollowell s first work to sell at auction, Transformation in Green and Red, realised $68,750 in May 2018 against an estimate of $15,000-20,000. 2. Petra Cortright (b. 1986) %

Petra Cortright (b. 1986), p3240473_v_icenter, 2013. 35¾ x 40 in (90.8 x 101.6 cm). Estimate: $18,000 25,000. Offered in Horizon Post-War and Contemporary Art, 13 23 August, Online Who? If you like this artist s work, you might also enjoy: Jim Campbell and Tauba Auerbach. Recent exhibitions: Cortright s first large-scale retrospective took place in 2017 at UTA Artist Space in Los Angeles; a second solo show, Pale Coil Cold Angel, was on view in June and July 2018 at Nahmad Projects in London. This summer a work by Cortright will be included in I Was Raised on the Internet at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Collections: Cortright s work has entered the permanent collections of the Pérez Museum, Miami; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; and the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, to name a few. 3. Gertrude Abercrombie (1909 1977) % Gertrude Abercrombie (1909-1977), A Dark Day, 1947. 4⅛ x 5⅜ in (10.5 x 13.7 cm). Estimate: $10,000 15,000. Offered in Horizon Post-War and Contemporary Art, 13 23 August, Online Who? In recent years, the art world has seen a rapid rise in solo shows, career surveys and retrospectives for female artists. Gertrude Abercrombie is one such artist who is finally getting her due. A Chicago-based painter of the Jazz Age, Abercrombie was known for her dark, surrealist landscapes and figures. Despite having little fine-art training, Abercrombie s work was featured in shows at local galleries and at the Art Institute of Chicago.

If you like this artist s work, you might also enjoy: April Gornik and Louise Nevelson. Recent exhibitions: Earlier this year, a selection of Abercrombie s work was exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago. This autumn she will be the subject of a solo show mounted by curator Dan Nadel in conjunction with New York s Karma Gallery, alongside the largest publication on the artist to date. Collections: The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.; and the Ackland Art Museum, Chapel Hill. Market: Abercrombie s Untitled (1959), offered at Christie s in New York in December 2017, realised $12,500 against a pre-sale estimate of $5,000-7,000.

4. Neil Raitt (b. 1986) Neil Raitt (b. 1986), Emerald Waters (Permanent Green Light), 2016. 39¼ x 27½ in (99.7 x 69.9 cm). Estimate: $3,000 5,000. Offered in Horizon Post-War and Contemporary Art, 13 23 August, Online Who? Characteristic of Neil Raitt s time-consuming, machine-like practice is the seemingly endless repetition of objects drawn from nature, such as mountains or trees. An enthusiast of art instructor Bob Ross, host of The Joy of Painting, Raitt often lifts his imagery from landscapes featured in the TV show.

If you like this artist s work, you might also enjoy: Paul Cowan and Piero Golia. Offered in Post War to Present on 27 September 2018 at Christie s in New York Who? Ben Thorp Brown s practice, which spans sculpture, video and performance art, poses fundamental questions about the human response to environmental and technological change. The young documentarian has already seen his work featured in the Vienna Biennale, The Chinati Foundation and MoMA PS1 in New York. If you like this artist s work, you might also enjoy: Ugo Rondinone and Cyprien Gaillard.
