MARTIN ØVERBØ SCHULTE ART & DESIGN 1997-2010
Martin Øverbø Schulte was born in Krefeld, Germany in 1974. He holds a Masters in Architecture (Sivilarkitekt) from the Nowegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway and is a member of the Norwegian Association of Architects (MNAL). The first 5 years of his architecture studies were undertaken at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. His first works were made in collaboration with a fellow student in a sculpture course at the Institute of Sculpture at RWTH Aachen University. In 1998, Schulte obtained a part-time position as a student assistant at the Institute. In addition, he continued working on his own sculptures in conjunction with his architecture studies. A student exchange year brought him to Trondheim, Norway in 1999 and the decision to stay came quickly and easily. While completing the remaining years of architectural study, Schulte produced a number of works, both as part of a course requirement at NTNU University and in his spare time. After moving to Oslo for an architectural job in 2001, he became a member of a collective of artists and architects called Jamaicaverkstedet. He soon became active in the collective s management and served two terms as chairman of the board. In 2003 Schulte returned to Trondheim and continued to seek time to further his art and design projects. In the summer of 2010, he took time out from from his full-time job, to concentrate on his artistic endevours, and to realise projects from his sketch book. Schulte is currently working full time as an architect at Selberg Arkitekter AS in Trondheim, Norway, where he is a partner and member of the board. His passion for art and design continues to occupy his spare time. THE ARTIST
