Living Guide Update Refer to the University Apartments Living Guide to stay up to date on the Apartments community rules and resources: https://housing.utexas.edu/apartments/living-guide Please review the recently updated "Lighting" section in the Apartments Living Guide: "All lamps and electrical devices must have a UL (or ULC) tag on the device. The Underwriter's Laboratory or Underwriter's Laboratory Canada places this tag or stamp on the device to indicate that safety testing of the device has been performed. Torchiere (pole) lamps are permitted only if they have LED bulbs with wattage consistent with the manufacturer s recommendation, no greater than 65 watts replacement. CFL, incandescent, and halogen bulbs are not permitted. Paper lanterns with bulbs, rope lights and string lights are not permitted. Placing cloth or paper over lighting is not permitted. Draperies, clothing, or other cloth materials are not permitted to be placed on or near electrical lighting devices. Contract holders found in possession of prohibited lighting are subject to disciplinary action and fines." Parking Placards Current University Apartments parking placards expire January 15, 2019. Contract holders may submit a 2019 Parking Placard Request Form at the University Apartments main office. If you have a vehicle that you wish to park at University Apartments, you must submit the form and pick up the placard. Required documentation for a 2019 parking placard: Driver s license Completed University Apartments 2019 Parking Placard Request Form (see attachment) Copy of vehicle insurance Reminders: Vehicles parked in resident spaces without valid placards are subject to towing If requesting a parking placard for a registered guest, the guest must be present with their driver s license and registered on the apartment contract For your convenience, additional parking placard request hours will be held: Tuesday, 12/11 from 4:00pm-8:00pm in the Colorado Community Room Friday, 12/14 from 4:00pm-8:00pm in the Colorado Community Room

CA Bio: Justin Justin began working as a Community Advisor in Brackenridge this past July. He grew up in Florida, but has lived outside of the States in Germany and central Asia for about 10 years total. He is a PhD candidate in the Department of Linguistics, where he studies signed languages, in particular how they emerge and change over time. He has lived in Brackenridge with his spouse and three children for almost 3 years and previously served on the Tenant Advisory Board (TAB) as a representative from Brackenridge for 2 years. In his (limited) free time, he enjoys hiking with his family, reading, soccer, and playing chess. Justin knows many residents in the community, and looks forward to getting to know new residents at upcoming social events and while walking around the neighborhood.

TAB members represent student residents and registered guests by: Improving the quality of University Apartments community life by organizing events; Managing the community gardens; Proposing recommendations to University Apartments staff; Engaging in advocacy in the community related to residents ideas and concerns; Reviewing resident appeals
