Talking with art to identify the beautiful and useful side of waste SCART since 1998 An intelligent and original ecological project founded on the wish to give new life to the materials that every day become waste. Incentivizing responsible behaviour The intention of SCART is to offer a stimulus to raise to the challenge when using discard materials and create artistic objects and objects for everyday use and then to think about our consumer society and about new intelligent and creative lifestyles. Over the years this effort has produced divans, tables, chairs, lamps, drawer units, games, musical instruments, clothes, installations and much more. 3
By using exclusively recovered materials, Waste Recycling, over almost twenty years, with the collaboration of lecturers and students of a number of Fine Arts Academies, has created original objects and furnishing complements each beautiful in its own way. 4
A Web platform for waste recycling artists In 2013 we opened a Web Community (www.scartline.it) where artists, artisans and designers that deal in Upcycling and Trash Art can register free of charge to exhibit their creations, come into contact with potential clients and become involved in Waste Recycling s several communication initiatives. Today scartline counts over 150 national and international artists. 5
The first Italian collective exhibition of Trash Art Ecomondo 2013 Over 40 among the most interesting expressions that animate Italian Trash Art have collaborated at the creation of the Waste Recycling 2013 at Ecomondo. Over 70 original lamps made only of waste material have attracted the attention and enthusiasm of participants. 6

Our commitment with the schools: Riciclati ad arte 2014 From January to June 2014 four artists registered on the scartline.it platform have been maestri di bottega (workshop teachers) of over 60 high school students from the town of Pontedera. A major creative workshop was organized which taught young people art through recycling and encouraging them to create design works and objects using the waste collected from Waste Recycling s waste storage depots. 8

Piaggio Museum Riciclati ad arte 2014 The «Riciclati ad Arte» 2014 experience was rounded off by a visit to the Piaggio Museum of Pontedera where all the works produced at SCART s workshops and several pieces from Waste Recycling s collection are exhibited. 10
SCART furnishes a restaurant Kkk In the beautiful Tuscan countryside SCART has furnished a restaurant that offers typical local cuisine, by making the walls, lamps, vetrage, the bathrooms etc. with waste materials. 11
Kkk SCART Music from waste During our participation in Ecomondo 2010 SCART produced functioning musical instruments made from waste material which were used to organize a concert for all visitors at the fair. 12
Kkk SCART Music from waste During our participation in Ecomondo 2010 we produced a discotheque made by stacking coloured and internally lit small-sized tanks for the collection of waste fluids. 13
Kkk SCART Furnishing an apartment In almost twenty years of activity we have produced several furnishing and design elements. 14
SCART Jewellery Every year Waste Recycling produces its own calendar 10.000 copies of which are distributed to clients, suppliers and visitors at the Ecomondo fair. SCART Bright red, Rosso Fiorentino In 2014, for the exhibition devoted to Rosso Fiorentino in 2014 organized by Vittorio Sgarbi, SCART was invited to produce a work that paid homage to the famous Deposizione dalla Croce (1521) kept in the Volterra art gallery. 16

SCART Teatro del Silenzio 2012 In 2012 for the VII edition of the Teatro del Silenzio (theatre of silence) of Lajatico, the sopranos that were the protagonists of the Andrea Bocelli Concert and the 66 elements of the Choir of the Carlo Felice theatre of Genova, wore clothes made by SCART with waste material recovered from Waste Recycling s storage depots. 18

SCART Teatro del Silenzio 2014 For the IX edition of the Teatro del Silenzio of Lajatico, Alberto Bartalini artistic director of Andrea Bocelli s Theatre of Silence asked Waste Recycling to create the sets. In previous years the hills of Lajatico had already served for the exhibition of the sets created and produced by wellknown artists such as Igor Mitoraj, Ugo Nespolo, Hans Peter Ditzler and Arnaldo Pomodoro. 20

SCART Agreement with the Florence Fine Arts Academy In September 2015 an agreement was signed between Waste Recycling, the Florence Fine Arts Academy and the municipality of Santa Croce sull Arno. The SCART workshop has become the place for seminars and workshops on artistic experimentation using industrial discards. 23
