THE ROTARY CLUB OF BENDIGO SOUTH SignPost Connect to the Community VOL. 54 NO. 1 THURSDAY 28th JUNE 2012 MEETS THURSDAYS 6pm for 6:30pm, @ THE FOUNDRY HOTEL A WEEK IN REVIEW... WELCOME all to this inaugural edition of the SignPost bulletin for the new Rotary year. NEARLY 60 Rotarians and friends gathered at the Foundry Hotel last Thursday night, to witness the Rotary club of Bendigo South's changeover night, where outgoing President Ruth O'Connell handed over the reigns to President Elect, Wendy Learmount. The wet weather outside did not dampen Wendy's eagerness to take on the top job, getting straight down to business, unveiling her plans for the coming Rotary year. Over the next twelve months, the Rotary club of Bendigo South will continue to modernise itself, making Rotary membership and ideals inviting and practical for the 21st century. As part of her presidency, the Rotary club of Bendigo South will also look at undertaking "short, sharp and quick" projects, said Wendy. Projects which will have an immediate impact, for the good of the Bendigo community. During her speech, incoming President Wendy Learmount paid tribute to outgoing club President Ruth O'Connell, who started the club on the path towards transformation. Ruth modernised the weekly club meetings, and ensured that the club was doing its part to engage with the community. One of the projects which was implemented under Ruth's presidency was the 'Friends of Rotary' program. "We hope to continue to expand our Friends of Rotary program this year" said Wendy. Contents...
