National Trust Cottages Access Statement Cottage Ref: 011092 The Canyack Bosorne St JUST Cornwall Introduction The Canyack is a traditional stone built miner s cottage. It sits on the top of a hill above the secluded Cot Valley. It is mainly constructed from the rocks hewn from the actual hill to provide a level base. The Cottage is arranged as follows: Ground Floor: Hall, Lounge, Kitchen/Diner and Garden room, First Floor: Bathroom and Double bedroom. Directions provided with booking Arrival & Parking Facilities The cottage is on the lane from St Just to the Cot Valley. The car parking area is a compacted earth and chippings area right beside the road on the edge of the property. The plant edged path from the parking spot wends its way up, through the overhanging trees, to the cottage above. The path is illuminated on a 2-way switch system. Page 1 of 10
Getting in (and out) of the cottage The pathway emerges into the front of the cottage grounds. There are 4 stone steps (160mm H) up to the front door. The combination key safe for the front door is on the wall to the left of the door. There is an outside light but it is recommended to bring a torch to set the correct lock combination on arrival. Keys to be returned to safe on final departure. Getting around the cottage Ground floor: Front door opens inwards into small hall, one door off, inwards, to kitchen/diner. Open doorway to lounge and another open doorway from lounge into garden room. Rear door from decking area opens inwards into garden room. Stairway from hall up to first floor. Garden The garden is informal and is mainly undulating grassed areas with the natural trees and hedges on the boundary. There is a decking area, with a picnic table, by the cottage rear door. There is a rotary dryer to the front. Additional Information Assistance dogs are welcome at all our cottages In the event of a fire, it is the responsibility of the guests to evacuate themselves. Vibrating fire/smoke detectors are available if requested at time of booking. Please contact us if you have any other specific access requirements in this respect.
