BAKI - ĐSLAM MƏDƏNĐYYƏTĐNĐN PAYTAXTIDIR BAKU - ISLAMIC CULTURE CAPITAL БАКУ - СТОЛИЦА ИСЛАМСКОЙ КУЛЬТУРЫ According to the resolution of 5-th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers (21-23.11.2007) the city of Baku was named the Islamic Culture Capital in 2009. So, many different events dedicated to this will take the place in Baku during this year. Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Republic jointly with Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction and with Foundation of Romualdo Del Bianco (Florence, Italy) will organize in Baku, 14-19.03.2009, Regional Festival Degree and Profession under the topic Traditional Islamic Architecture for students and young architects. The main idea of the Festival is to create possibilities for the students of different Universities situated in certain region to expose their diploma works, to be acquainted with working experience of famous architects, participated in the conferences and workshops in different spheres of architecture. An idea of Degree and Profession is belong to Foundation of Romualdo Del Bianco. The project Degree & Profession offers opportunities to the young professionals to display their degree projects on the Internet and have their work accredited on an international level by different architectural- construction enterprises cooperated with Foundation. That project will enlarge cooperation between the specialists and students from different Universities and countries. Regional Festival in Baku will be the first one among them, where specialists and students from Azerbaijan as well as from other countries will participate together. International Festival Degree and profession have taken place in Florence, November, 2008. Organization of the Regional Festival in Baku will create the possibility to enlarge the frames of Project Degree and Profession and to involve maximal quantity of participants. We hope to meet in Baku representatives of regional Universities as well as other architectural schools interested to participate. We think it could be a meeting of friends and colleagues, which will be very useful for young professionals and architectural education and for preservation of architectural and cultural heritage as well. We hope that First Regional Festival organised in Baku will be interesting for professors and students of different Universities. Working languages of the Festival: Azery, English, Russian. All events will be provided with synchronic or following translation. Certificates of participation will be delivered to all the participants of the Festival. Besides Certificates on different nominations will be delivered to authors of the best diploma works in the result of work of Jury of the Festival Places: Opening ceremony of the Festival and Case histories (16.03.2009) will take the place at Museum Center All other event in the frame of the Festival, including lectures-conferences, Diploma works Presentations and Companies Presentations will take the place at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Lunches will be served at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Participants will be provided by buses to go from hotels to the venues.
