The 2007-version focused more on Spatial Data Infrastructures and national needs. 2001-2004 Supervised the Ph.D-project: Causes of Development of the Cadastre in Portugal. 2001-2005 Initiated and chaired the Management Committee of the research project Modelling Real Property Transactions, supported by ESF/COST as COST action G9. The project coordinated research in more than 10 European countries, including Greece, Hungary and Slovenia. Taking an Institutional Economics perspective, the project aimed at assessing the costs of transactions in real estate, e.g. the purchase of units of real property, mortgaging, and the identification and change of property units through cadastral processes. In order to relate activities to objectives and costs, the transactions were described in increasingly formal ways, abstracting from national peculiarities. The formalization process applied knowledge engineering approaches, aiming at the eliciting of core cadastral and legal ontologies. 2000-2001 Assessed for Higher Education Quality Evaluation Centre, Latvia, the MSc education at Latvia University of Agriculture, Jelgava, and Riga Technical University, Riga 1999-2007 Developed the course International Land Management (Maa-20.375; 6 cr ~ 9ects) for the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, and lectured it every 2nd year 1998-2001 Review of research projects, invited by the Academy of Finland, 1998, 2001 1996-2009 Developed an intensive one-week course: A theoretical base for cadastral development, for the Department of Real Estate and Construction Management, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and lectured it yearly 1996-1999 Initiated and coordinated the Phare/TEMPUS supported project: Improved Education on Environment and Infrastructure (S-JEP 11001-96; Dept. of Geodesy, Ljubljana, Slovenia). The project regarded the restructuring of the study programme of the Department of Geodesy, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Colleagues from university departments in Austria, Finland, the Netherlands, and Sweden were partners of the project, which resulted in a formally agreed renewal of the study programmes of the Department.
