11:00 Sustainable reconstruction of the A6 Motorway Rijkswaterstaat procured works and services to widen the A6 motorway, aiming for the motorway to be energy neutral after construction. RWS developed instruments to calculate the CO2 emissions of the project, then selected a tender using a combination of price and quality according to the EMAS (economically most advantageous submission). With this project they won the Procura+ Tender Procedure of the Year award in 2016. Ingeborg Ligtenberg, Project Manager A6 Motorway (the Netherlands) Workshop continued Brief presentations on current research by: - Björn Andersen, NTNU (Norway) - Marian Bosch and Marcel Hertogh, TU Delft (The Netherlands) - Ivana Burcar Dunović, University of Zagreb Faculty of Civil Engineering (Croatia) - Martina Huemann, WU Vienna, Project Management Group (Austria) - Jennifer White, Imperial College London (UK) 11:45 Lessons learned Governance at the Room for the River Programme The goal of the Dutch Room for the River Programme is to give the river more room to be able to manage higher water levels. At more than 30 locations, measures have been taken to give the river space to flood safely. In addition, the measures are designed in such a way that they improve the quality of the immediate surroundings. The Room for the River programme was recently delivered. 14:15 New Lock Terneuzen: a cross border project of Flanders and The Netherlands. An example of the best of both worlds?! In February 2015, the Flemish Ministry of Mobility and Public Works and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment signed a Treaty to build the New Lock Terneuzen. The lock will improve the access to the ports of Ghent and Terneuzen and contribute significantly to a better passage of inland vessels between Rotterdam and Paris. Total investment cost is c. 1 billion (including 30 years of maintenance) to be covered by The Netherlands and - predominantly -Flanders. Works are expected to start in September 2017 and first ships will pass through the New Lock in 2022. Cooperation within the mixed Flemish -Dutch teams is an inspiring theme to share. Eric C.L. Nye Veier was established with the purpose to reform the Norwegian road-building sector and are 100% owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communication. Challenging goals are defined both in building faster and more efficient (with lower cost and higher social economic benefit). This, with respect to high level HSE and social reasonability. We have developed a execution model which includes for example early contractor involvement, new types of tender possesses (best value procurement), One of our main challenging goals are due to C02 reduction and to build a final product which is robust/sturdy to meet the demands and needs of a future transport system.
