AIACNY 2018 DESIGN AWARDS AIA Central New York, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, recognizes outstanding works of architecture through its annual design awards program. The purpose of the program is to celebrate achievements in design excellence by Architects in the Central New York Region; and to honor the architects, clients and consultants who work together to create and enhance our built environment. GUIDELINES Entry Fees: Members: Non-Members: Registration: See attached PDF Eligiblity: $125 per entry $400 per entry AIACNY Members: For a design project to be eligible for consideration by the AIA CNY Design Awards Jury, the architect must be a registered, licensed architect in New York State. Works of Architecture may be located anywhere in the world by AIA CNY members. Non-Members: Design projects by architects who are not member of AIA CNY are eligible for consideration by the AIA CNY Design Awards Jury. The architects must be licensed, registered architects in New York State. Projects must be located within New York State. NOTE: All submitted design projects must have been completed since January 1, 2013. Each entrant may submit any number of entries. Awards Presentation: Presentation of the 2018 AIACNY Design Awards will be made on November 3, 2018 at the Everson Museum of Art, in Syracuse, New York. Recipients will be featured on the AIA Central New York Website. Cancellation Policy: Design Award Entries may be canceled up to 5:00 p.m. on September 1, 2018 less a $50.00 administration fee. All cancellations and refund requests must be in writing or emailed to sarah.d.barnard@ gmail.com, Sarah Barnard, Director of Community, AIACNY. SUBMISSION CATEGORIES Residential: 1A: Single Family Detached, less than 2,500 sq ft 1B: Single Family Detached, 2,500 sq ft and over 1C: Multi Family, Multiple Dwelling Institutional: 2A: All Commercial / Industrial: 3A: Small Projects, less than 5,000 sq ft 3B: Large Projects, 5,000 sq ft and over Urban Planning / Design: 4A: All Adaptive Re-Use / Historic Preservation: 5A: All Interiors: 6A: All Unbuilt: 7A: Commissioned architectural design work, not yet built or complete, by practicing emerging architects licensed 10 years or less. 7B: Commissioned architectural design work, not yet built or complete, by all other architects. International: 8A: All Pro Bono: 9A: All A project for which those licensed architect(s) involved received no financial compensation Solo Practitioner: 10A: All A project submitted from firms having only one architect, and no other professional staff. Planning/Design: 11A: All A non-typical, design project (not for construction), and written works related to the field of architecture. Examples include: design handbooks, textbooks, etc.

Due: September 15, 2018 Submit: Narrative Project Checklist Project Images Project Information Sheet Project Questionnaire Photographer s Release Form Submission Order: This presentation is what the jury will see; with the exception of the project information sheet, checklist and photographers release (these forms are removed by the staff prior to the review by the jury), it must be completely anonymous - firms name, architect s name or previous awards cannot appear or entry will be disqualified. Limit project description to 500 words or less. May be formatted but must be completely anonymous. Additional images may be submitted showing plans, elevations, sections, etc. No juxtaposing of multiple images into a single file is allowed. DISCLAIMERS *Project Information Sheet: Credits listed must include the name and address of all design firm(s) and persons substantially contributing to the design of the project; client s name; contractor s and/or construction manager s name(s), firm name and address of consultant(s); and project s name and location and photo credits listen in the manner desired to appear on a citation or photo caption. Make sure the company name and submitting architects is included. By submitting a project for consideration, the submitting architect represents and warrants AIA Central New York that he or she has provided a complete list of all those substantially contributing to the design of the project. Failure to provide a complete list may result in disqualification and/or a referral of the matter to the appropriate ethics body of the national office of the AIA. The AIA CNY accepts no responsibility for incomplete lists. Images: AIA CNY may resize images to meet publication needs, but will not alter or modify the images. While landscape orientation is strongly preferred, we understand that some projects will require a portrait image. The eight (8) single image maximum is only for photographs and 3D renderings; site plans, elevations, sections, etc. are not counted within the 8 image requirement but may be submitted in addition to the 8 images. No juxtaposing of multiple images into a single file is allowed. Liability: AIA Central New York assumes no liability for original drawings and submission materials or loss or damage to any part of the submission. AIA CNY retains the right to reproduce any of the submission materials in its publications, educational programs and website. By making a submission, the entrant agrees that the information contained in the submission is correct and complete, and that the entrant will hold harmless AIA CNY for any and all damage arising out of the use of the information contained herein. Any errors or omissions are the complete responsibility of the entrant.
