Notes: Bungalows - Generally built between 1970 and 1996 and of three bedrooms. A small number (approximately 8) were built prior to 1970 and tended to be more modest with two bedrooms, although some have subsequently been enlarged. Of the 19 bungalows in Woodcock Way as part of the Redrow Development, 7 were built with four bedrooms. Some of these have had the fourth bedroom altered to a utility room or study/office. Only one bungalow has been built in the village since 1996 and this was a special one-off two-bedroomed retirement bungalow in the back garden of 14 Green Lane for Edgar and Berta Apsey. Two original bungalows have been demolished and replaced by large houses - The Glen in Chard Street (5 bedrooms 2010) and Park View at Harestone Cross (4 bedrooms 2015/16) Houses post 1915 - Significant elements are: 33 Council houses built in 1926 (4) and between 1948 and 1955 (29). Only 3 are known still to be rented by EDDC or Housing Associations; the remainder having been sold to tenants during the Thatcher period of government. These houses have remained basically unchanged since they were built, the exceptions being: 4 The Parade (significantly extended and increased from 2 to 3 bedrooms) 7 Westcombes (extended to incorporate a one bedroom, self contained annex) 8 Westcombes (now the village shop) 9 Green Lane (extended 2009 from three to five bedrooms) A 34th council house is the old Police House built in the late 1920s at the top of Kitbridge Lane and now named Court Lodge. Henley Close (27 houses) plus Nos 1/3/5 Woodcock Way (3 houses). The more affordable part of the Redrow development, which actually comprises 9 two-bedroomed houses (rented - social housing) built by Redrow, 17 smaller three-bedroomed houses (privately owned, but some are rented at commercial rates) 10 built by Redrow and 7 by MPD (Chardstock) Ltd and 4 four-bedroomed houses at the western end of Henley Close, privately owned and built as part of the development of the New Inn/Tytherleigh Court. All the properties are as built (they are packed in tightly so expansion is difficult), except for No. 7 which has a modest ground floor extension to incorporate a fourth bedroom The remainder of Woodcock Way (28 dwellings) developed by Redrow except for Nos 15 and 17, which were built as in-fill in 1998 by Stowford Homes Ltd. The posher part of the Redrow development comprising larger, more expensive properties, closely spaced, but with an open aspect to the road. The split in types is 19 bungalows (12 x 3 and 7 x 4 bedrooms) and 9 detached houses (1 x 3 and 8 x 4 bedrooms)

Sopers Field (6 houses) and Cooks Field (3 houses plus a Coach House/Flat) built by Jameson Homes as a linked development. Construction work started in September 2012 and was immediately marketed under the name The Chardstones. The houses were completed in early 2014. The combined development of 10 properties comprised 1 x 5, 3 x 4, 3 x 3 and 1 x 2 bedroomed houses plus a 2 bedroom Coach House. The 2 x 2 bedroomed dwellings were offered through Yarlington Homes on a shared ownership arrangement. The remaining houses tend to be either new build or enlargements of old properties e.g.: Fordings, Kitbridge Lane increased from 3 to 5 bedrooms South View, Kitbridge Lane enlarged by addition of a self-contained annex. Pound House, Kitbridge Lane currently being enlarged from 3 to 5 bedrooms. Woodstock and Stockwell House off Chard Street, large 5 bedroomed houses built in 2008.
