Welcme / Call t Order Administrative Cuncil Meeting Mresville First UMC February 10, 2015 7:00 PM t 8:30 PM (Parlr) The February 10, 2015 Administrative Cuncil meeting was cnvened by Chairpersn Spencer DePy at 7:09pm in the Parlr f First UMC. The meeting was pened in prayer by Pastr Dennis. Signature f Attendance Sheet was passed arund fr signage by attendees. (see Appendix A) Mtin was made by Signe Nichlsn and secnded by Becky Underwd fr the apprval f minutes frm the Octber 14, 2014 Ad Cuncil meeting and it was passed. Ministry Perspective Pastr Dennis Paytn shared his dreams and the gals by asking all wrk areas and church members t achieve three imprtant gals: everyne is part f a small grup, n church family wuld g withut the necessities, and everyne practices the Great Cmmissin (Matthew 28:18-20). Dennis shared the charge cnference reprts that will be submitted t the Indiana cnference as well as the General Rules f the Methdist Church. (see Appendix B). Assistant Pastr Ben Bezy shared tw reprts: 2014 and 2015 Assistant Pastr Gals (see Appendix C) and 2014 and 2015 Wrship Pastr Gals (see Appendix D). Als, he spke abut the missin trip t Nicaragua in 2016. Lay Leader Sue Klinger was absent, but her submitted reprt was read. (see Appendix E). Administrative Reprts Trustees Bill Byd reprted n the activity f the Trustees, including a pergla fr the curtyard, raising mney t match the grant fr new playgrund equipment, upgrading the lamp psts, and rtating the respnsibility fr lcking up the church. (see Appendix F). Staff Parish Relatins Greg Lng was absent, but sent a written reprt n the Staff Parish actins. (see Appendix G). Lay Leadership Dennis Paytn shared the rster fr all wrk areas and 2015 Administrative Cuncil. As the chairpersn fr Lay Leadership, Pastr Dennis endrsed the slate f peple fr Family Ministries submitted by Kim Webster (see Appendix H). Finance Signe Nichlsn reprted n the prcess f adpting the 2015 budget. She requested that all wrk areas keep their spending levels the same as in 2014. The budget adpted in Octber 2014 has been readjusted t reflect what was actually spent in 2014, nt what was actually budgeted. S, there is an adjustment t the adpted budget frm Octber 2014. Mtin was made by Signe Nichlsn t apprve the budget t be adjusted frm $660,000 t $600,000. The mtin t accept the adjusted budget was vted and apprved. Treasurer Bill Yeager shared his reprt including the year-end balance f 2014 (see Appendix I) as well as the ending balance fr January 2015 (see Appendix J). Cmmunicatins Kim Vedder shared Cmmunicatin cmmittee s gals and dreams fr 2015. This includes a new Guide Bk and Directry by May 2015. Anther gal is t have a new pht directry later this year and explring hw we can get mre peple invlved in media and website develpment. Website statistics and scial media activity were included in this reprt. (see Appendix K). Technlgy Dave Burtn reprted abut the status f technlgy. Everything is ging well. Dave requested that a designated fund t be set up t help ffset the cst fr purchasing future hardware. Membership/ Attendance Kim Vedder shared the membership reprt fr 2014 and 2015. (see Appendix L). Lay Delegate t Annual Cnf David Sease reprted that the next annual cnference will be May 28-30, 2015. Lay Delegate t Annual Cnf Jeff Lawsn n reprt Member at Large Dale Wilsn made a few cmments abut the need t edit a cuple f items n the rster in the wrk areas. Member at Large Phil Munzer questined abut the individual budgets fr each wrk area. He asked if the pergla design wuld be apprved befre the actual cnstructin began. Member at Large Michael Cper attended but had n questins. Ministry & Missins Reprts Wrship Cmmittee Becky Underwd shared that the hspitality befre wrship has been mre effective. Prayer Cmmittee Cathy Msier reprted n the activities f the prayer ministry. She utlined the Tuesday mrning prayer team as well as the prayer card ministry. (see Appendix M) Missins Shelly Wilsn reprted that all future meetings fr the Missin Cmmittee will be the last Sunday f each mnth at 11 a.m. They are praying fr the Hendersn Missin grup. They are supprting Pastr Ben s missin trip t Nicaragua. One f the missin cmmittee s gal is t imprve cmmunicatin n the missin activities. Children s Educatin Lydia Rychtarczyk reprted that they will be partnering with Family Ministry t lead Fish and Laves which are meals served during Lent n Wednesday nights. June 22-26 is VBS. The summer lunch prgram is being prayed abut and they are discussing what this prgram will lk like fr this summer. Yuth Prgram Bryan Vickery reprted yuth are ging t Frakes, Kentucky (Hendersn Missin) June 14-19 t wrk. Yuth leadership team is explring the pssibility f ffering a schlarship t a yuth wh is ging int yuth wrk. Bryan s 10% grwth plan includes better cmmunicatin with parents. The secnd gal is that yuth are mre engaged in leadership rles as well as adult-yuth leadership helping with the yuth. Third gal is t imprve n fllw-up. (see Appendix N) Adult Educatin Tammy Paytn reprted that there will be a Lenten study which will be hsted by several peple in ur church. Family Ministries Kim Webster reprted that their cmmittee has grwn. Breakfast with Santa was very psitive. Mrs. Claus was well accepted by the children. Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held befre Easter. They are trying their very first mvie night during February. June 26 is the pl party, which is during the final day fr Vacatin Bible Schl. Health & Welfare Cheryl Hward was absent. Kim Webster reprted that there maybe a Health Fair in May. Julie Wrkman is leading Bwling fr Brains and is raising mney fr Brain Aneurysm research. Preschl Oversight Lydia Rychtarczyk reprted ding an extended care fr preschl age children with dismissal at 2:45 p.m. beginning this fall. March 12 frm 6-7:30 is pen huse. March 3-5 is bk fair. United Methdist Wmen Mary Craig was absent. Kim Vedder reprted that the Big Game Sunday cheeseball sale was gd. They will be selling Easter eggs. United Methdist Men Jhn Crawfrd was absent/n reprt. Unfinished Business Nne New Business Dave Burtn wants t create a new small grup fr karate. He hpes this will becme a cmmunity utreach. This karate grup will be pen fr all ages.
