Courses taught Design I Introduction to design through a focus on design literacy and the creative conceptualization of issues fundamental to the design of human environments. Emphasis on the realization and experience of architectural ideas in materials. Design II ARC 1223 Introduction to design as a broadly creative process based on consideration of spatial experience, context, program, building form, representation, and design communication. Visual Communications Introductory exploration of graphic processes and techniques utilized in the design and construction of the built environment for the representation, visualization, analysis, and presentation of the designed environment. Design IV ARC 2126 Architectural design with increasing emphasis on development of design processes and concepts. Projects are of greater complexity with consideration given to historical precedents, urban contextual response, architectural theory, and architectural order, structure and detailing. Introduction to the role of fire and life safety concerns, building codes, ADA accessibility, and zoning regulations as design criteria. Continues investigation of traditional and digital media. Principals of Environmental Systems ARC 2233 Introduction to the design of environmentally responsive buildings and the natural and artificial systems that support them. Includes consideration of topics such as, embodied energy, active and passive heating and cooling, indoor air quality, solar orientation, daylighting and artificial illumination, acoustics, and building services systems. Building Design Studio ARC 4156 Architectural design with emphasis on building technology, materials, assemblies, tectonics, structure, environmental systems, and the inter-relationship of building and environment. Introduction to the Built Environment (IBE) ARC 1113 An introduction to the design and construction of the built environment. Includes consideration of professional practice, ethics, interior design, landscape architecture, planning, urbanism and construction. Course Redesign Summer 2015 Academic Inquiry and Scholarship AIS 1203 A general survey of scholarship practiced within three broad cultures of inquiry: the Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. Through a cross-disciplinary framework, this course explores the diverse ideas, values, and practices used by various disciplines to investigate and organize their subject matter and create knowledge. Students will consider and compare the assumptions, methods, ethics, and impact of inquiry and scholarship within these three broad cultures of inquiry. Students will examine, compare, and contrast the intellectual endeavors that influence society and human experience. Course Redesign Pathway committees Spring 2017 Introduction to Sustainability ES 4153 This course examines the major economic, social, and environmental issues and trends happening in modern society from a scientific and practical perspective, including biodiversity, population, urbanism, food and water resources, climate change, energy, public health, and the overall forecast for the environment, both built and natural, for the next several decades. Urban Environmental Planning and Sustainability ES 6973 This course examines how the concept of sustainable development applies to buildings, cities, and urban regions and gives students insight into a variety of contemporary urban planning and green building issues through the lens of sustainability. Ways to coordinate goals of environmental, economic, and social equity at different scales of planning are addressed, including the region, the city the neighborhood, the site and buildings.

The committee was brought to order by Vince Canizaro and formally disbanded by him on March 23 rd of 2017. 2016 Present Curriculum Sub-Committee The Curriculum Sub-Committees exist to provide guidance, review, catalog revisions, and continual assessment of the curricula particular to each content area, in dialog with other content areas, and with respect to upholding standards and quality of work in each undergraduate degree program within the department. Sub-committee topics are determined by the Department Chair as needed depending on curriculum developments; such as the following: First year Studio, Second year Studio, 3 rd and 4 th Year Studios; Technology; History; Theory; Digital Technology; Interior Design; Study Abroad, Historic Preservation, etc. 2015 Present Studio Culture sub-committee This committee was formed to develop Architecture department s Studio Culture document. 2015-2016 Department Annual Review Committee This committee s duty was to review faculty annual review material and report its findings to the Department Chair. College Service 2015-2016 Dean s Faculty Advisory Committee Charge of the committee The committee was brought to order by Vince Canizaro and formally disbanded by him on March 23 rd of 2017.

2017 Playhouse Competition This was a CACP design-build competition completed in cooperation with students from Architecture, Interior Design and Construction Science departments. Projects were student-led, designed and built. University Service 2016 Present AIS Pathway Committee CACP and College of Science This committee was charged with the redesign of the AIS course into an Academic Pathway model. I served on two committees in this capacity, one for the CACP and the other for the College of Science 2016 Present American Institute of Architecture Students - Faculty Advisor 2016 Present U.S. Green Building Council at UTSA Student Chapter Faculty Advisor
