Lessons Learned Open mind and willingness to truly collaborate is needed on every step Quality of models is crucial The EIR/BEP and the authoring software templates are the backbone of the entire process Validating information before sharing can save time (and money!) Drawing production (automatic with embedded information from other consultants) is challenging Issue management is challenging Lack of understanding of how your authoring software interacts with IFC can be problematic and cause delays Integration of CDE s with other systems (other CDE s, issue management software, asset information management software, computer aided facilities management software) is needed (yesterday!) IFC does work Open BIM is the future (and it s already happening for some of us!)
