AIA MICHIGAN and AGC of MICHIGAN 75 th Annual MID SUMMER CONFERENCE The Grand Hotel Mackinac Island August 2-4, 2018 #75GRAND Diamond Celebration
HIGHLIGHTS EVENTS SPONSORS SCHEDULE OF EVENTS LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE HIGHLIGHTS Michael Neville FAIA Mid Summer Conference Chair Welcome to the 75th Mid Summer Conference on historic Mackinac Island. Architects, designers & contractors will gather to celebrate the positive impact that the design and construction industries are making in Michigan. This year s Conference theme is Diamond Celebration. This year we will celebrate the past, present and future with a Moonlight Cruise and Fireworks, Dueling Pianos, children s magician and more! This is the 15th year AIAMI and the AGC of Michigan have partnered on this event. Collaborating with our partners in the built environment is now more important than ever and the conference enables us to network and learn from each other in a relaxed environment. The educational opportunities include: 1 HSW & 3.5 LUs. There are many activities for children and youth including horseback riding, biking, hiking, a magic show and pool party. Continuing education on Friday will be followed by Bocci, sponsored by Brick Tech Architectural, a long-standing tradition of the conference. Saturday, continuing education will be followed by a Time Capsule event for future attendees to remember the past. Saturday afternoon we will enjoy a 9-hole scramble on the Grand gold course with prizes and hummers following the event! As usual, there is always time to ride a bike, walk, horseback, lay by the pool, read a book on the porch, enjoy live music, eat a Pecan ball, explore Fort Mackinac, play bocci and tennis. After each day s activities we will gather for an evening reception. Thursday evening, mingle on the front porch at cocktails, sponsored by the The Belden Brick Sales Company. Fireworks sponsored by Plante Moran will top off the evening. Friday evening s cocktail party, sponsored by Great Lakes Fabricators & Erectors Association, will be held in Grand Hotel Tea Garden, where the Bocci Tournament Finals will continue. Adults will gather for after dinner for Dueling Pianos and drinks at the Terrace Room. Saturday, we return to the porch for a reception sponsored by SMACNA Metropolitan Detroit Chapter. Enjoy dinner in the dining room, followed by the Afterglow on the West Porch, sponsored by the Michigan Brick Council, where the fun will continue. The Great Turtle Chapter will bestow the coveted Gold Turtle Award to honor Hall of Fame contributors of the Mid Summer Conference. We look forward to seeing you on the porch of the Grand Hotel.
