The Towers was constructed in 1992 and is now in a state of disrepair having never been occupied. Building 1 pays homage to a number of the locallylisted Neo-Georgian properties along The Bishops Avenue and within the Hampstead Garden Suburb. The Arts and Craft characteristics of Building 2 retain those found in one of the existing properties on site, The Towers, and frequently seen elsewhere in the area. To the rear of the site, Building 3 establishes a more contemporary language, but is consistent with the other buildings in featuring strong horizontal and vertical bands and columns. Planning The site is situated within the London Borough of Barnet and within the Bishops Avenue subset of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Conservation Area. Planning permission (ref: F/04857/14) was granted by the London Borough of Barnet on 3rd August 2015 for: Demolition of six existing dwelling houses and erection of two three-storey blocks and one four-storey block to provide 44 residential units (3 x 1-bed, 27 x 2-bed and 14 x 3-bed units) with servicing, refuse/recycling facilities, tennis court, car parking at basement levels and associated landscaping. The planning permission is subject to a Section 106 Agreement dated 30th July 2015 requiring the (index linked) financial contributions in the table below.
