Selected Projects Northampton Academy This project is an expansion of the campus to accommodate extra school agenda and extra facilities mainly in Sports, Business, and Enterprise to the faculty, students, and wider community. There are several buildings that surround a center courtyard. This courtyard provides social interaction between pupils and the individual buildings. This maximizes circulation efficiency. The building are tapered and get narrower further away from the courtyard which maximizes views out to the landscape around the campus. Each building has a double-height circulation space that is surround by smaller learning rooms. These rooms can open up to the circulation space to become one large learning area. They are all well daylit and properly shaded from direct gain. Masterplan Courtyard Circulation Area
Oxstalls Campus University of Gloucestershire This project is also an expansion of a university. The site is 15 acres of brownfield at the edge of the city center of Gloucestershire. The project includes a learning centre, sports science facility, and 175 units of student housing. Like with all of FCBS projects, this is very concious of the environment. Shading of direct light is ample, and there is a large array of PV panels installed on the roof of the sports science facility. The waveform of the roof is a derivative of accommodating photovoltaics and skylights. The South side of the wave form is to maximize the angle for the PV panels and the North side of the wave consists of skylights to let in the quality indirect Northern light. There is also a large outdoor learning area that is well shaded and within a microclimate created by the design.
