November is Rotary Foundation month ooooooooooooooo Sergeant Martin brought our meeting to order inviting President Ron to open our meeting. Michael Schulz provided our invocation while Jane Challis offered our loyal toast including toasting the Rotary club of Dublin, the home of a participant in tomorrow s Melbourne Cup. Ron offered an explanation of what was perceived as a poor meal during our recent visit to the Children s Farm. Our meal in fact was a donation with the $25.00 paid all going to the Children s Foundation. Ron advised that a total of $1750 was raised from our Seymour Show gates activity. He also spoke of our Shake the Can work which will conclude tomorrow [Cup day Tuesday] Ron handed the meeting to our track master for tonight s Melbourne Cup eve festivities to PP Greg Byers who called for reports. Alison Hall on duty New Generations chair Jane Challis reported on the recent National Youth Science Forum dinner at Notre Dame College in Shepparton. Attending the dinner were, Seymour College Principal Gail Hardman, years 7-12 science teacher Tristan Garcia, participant Max Hooper, Max s mother Christine and Jane. President Elect, Club Administration chair Mariam Baker reported on plans for the Relay for Life in 2018. Service Projects chair IPP Ruth Byers reported on Anzac Tribute Show ticket sales and updated all on Christmas raffle ticket sales. Marlene Campbell provided a very positive story relating to the selling of raffle tickets with one purchaser in particular very complimentary of the work we do. PP Bryan Tehan provided all with a brief history of our club. PP President and Community Service chair Greg Byers confirmed that our police awards would take place on December 4.
With a party atmosphere in the air our chief steward for the night Jane Challis, ably assisted by Harley Bird, announced that the games had begun : Anything Is Possible gave all Rotarians to show their artistic flair by colouring in the horse mascots with Ralph baker and Michael Schulz coming out on top. Rotarians were also invited to become Hugh Lawrence s jockey. Alison Hall won the Rename the Seymour Cup competition.
