PROS Sweet Home More accessible 1-min walk distance to the PMU and library (krannert) Increased social life Be more closed with campus and other students Usually be aware of campus and dorm-sponsored social activities Simplicity and Security 24-hours front desk and convenient mail service Cable TV and high-speed Internet access are available Don't have to worry about utility bills Food is a short walk away and always available Hawkins
Sweet Home CONS Increased residences rates Rates are from $405-735 depends on the type of accommodations Little privacy Shared bathrooms and space Limited space Have to limit what you bring to school, or your space will be too crowded Not convenient to make your own meals (only one kitchen on the first floor) Noisy dorm fire alarm, interrupting your sleep in the morning Good for those who do not have a car! If you have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning and have early classes, being close to campus makes a huge difference!! Hawkins

McCormick Place http://www.mccormickapts.com With Furniture Large Living Room Private bedroom & bathroom 4B bus Sufficient Amenities High Rent (1:$760 2:$499 3:$450 4:$399) Small closet (especially for women) No desk & chair in the room No tables in the living & dining room (Huge electric tower near by) You should find other places with lower rent first! Franklin Park Pros: Quiet 5-10 minutes to Walmart/ bus station (1B, 4B) Friendly manager http://www.franklinparkapartments.com/franklin_home.html Get $25 discount for the rent if you are a graduate student or staff of Purdue Cons Not so many carports (useful in winter) The dryer/washer is not in every building ( Hemingway & Fitzgerald with dryer/washer) public laundry is a little bit far from every building UNFURNISHED Not suitable to be a party house
Franklin Park Suggestion: Better to get a car 10 mins driving to the campus 20 mins to the campus (bus 4B) 30 mins home (bus 1B)

Salem Courthouse 1 Bed (small room with washer inside) $620-650 1Bed(big room with dan) $670-690 2 Bed (one bathroom) $740-840 2Bed(two bathroom) $760-780 Pros: 1. 10 Min Driving to PU 2. Near Wal-Mart and Asia market 3. 1B,4B & 5 Bus 4. Good maintenances 5. Sufficient Amenities 6. Quiet Cons: 1. A little old 2. Increasing rental fee every year 3. ILTC President is the neighbor
Campus Suites on the lake http://www.campussuites.com/properties/purdue/ 3 bedrooms : 420 / person 4 bedrooms : 400 / person Pros: 1. All furniture and utilities included excepted electricity. ( Free TV in living room!! ) 2. Free shuttle bus to campus, but only operating to 5:20PM. 3. Quick maintenance. 4. Quiet community even on weekend night. 5. Free copy at public PC room, but it is the slow output copy machine. 6. Friendly administrant and office hour to 8PM on weekday. Cons: 1. Far away from campus. (~5miles to PMU) 2. Far away from City Bus 4B stop. (Walk time: 10mins) 3. No shuttle bus in summer and winter break. Conclusions: Only recommended if you will have car immediately!!!!
How to decide? On campus/off campus Cook/ Eat out Price Transportation (city bus/walking distance/drive) Department location Once you decide which apartment to live, you still have to check the official website for the updated policies which might be changed year by year.
