Mayor Oscar Goodman has said that Public art is what makes a city s identity. As Las Vegas continues to grow in size, population and maturity, it is our attention to public art, and the distinctiveness of our architecture, that will define our city and create a new national image of Las Vegas. The 2009 edition will investigate how artists and architects work together and how business owners, civic leaders, artists and designers are influencing the look of our city - from murals to sculptures and skyscrapers. The new Union Park project, CityCenter and other major projects are bringing a new focus to our urban environment, while at the same time, efforts to preserve the unique art and architecture of our city s history are essential in defining our city.
