designed for Las Vegas by the people who built it ARCHITECTURE LAS VEGAS is the official publication of the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Our purpose is to enhance the public s awareness of architecture and its importance in our community and in our lives. Our magazine is created to inform, educate and entertain the reader by providing relevant information regarding our built environment, advancements in the field of architecture and the recognition of excellence in design.

As an annual publication, the magazine provides an extended shelf-life and is available on newsstands and bookstores nationally (including Barnes & Nobel and Borders) as well as online at aialasvegas.org. With an average 2.5 readers per copy, the magazine provides a total readership of over 62,500. With a distribution of 25,000 copies, the 2009 edition of Architecture Las Vegas will be distributed to: 12,000 of the high end demographic of Nevada Public Radio subscribers 10,000 of the top architecture firms and architects in the country editorial content ARCHITECTURE LAS VEGAS is an award-winning magazine, and the only publication that addresses architecture and design issues of the Las Vegas community. The 2009 edition of Architecture Las Vegas will explore the importance of art and architecture in our city.. how it enriches our lives, creates a sense of place and brings an energy and vitality to our community. Mayor Oscar Goodman has said that Public art is what makes a city s identity. As Las Vegas continues to grow in size, population and maturity, it is our attention to public art, and the distinctiveness of our architecture, that will define our city and create a new national image of Las Vegas. The 2009 edition will investigate how artists and architects work together and how business owners, civic leaders, artists and designers are influencing the look of our city - from murals to sculptures and skyscrapers. The new Union Park project, CityCenter and other major projects are bringing a new focus to our urban environment, while at the same time, efforts to preserve the unique art and architecture of our city s history are essential in defining our city. Under her guidance Architecture Las Vegas magazine was created in 1999. She has overseen the production and publication of each of the magazines previous editions. Associate Publisher / Advertising Sales: Debi Raffi serves as Communications Manager for the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and this year will be her fourth year in the role of Associate Publisher and Director of Advertising Sales for Architecture Las Vegas. She manages the production of all chapter publications including the annual AIA Las Vegas Directory and Resource Guide, the FORUM newsletter and both the AIA Nevada and AIA Las Vegas websites. Editor: Phil Hagen of Vegas Ink has served as editor of Architecture Las Vegas for nine years, and was instrumental in the establishment of the magazine in 1999. Phil has developed several other publications including Vurb and Nevada Public Radio s Desert Companion. Previously he served as editor of Las Vegas Life magazine and under his guidance, that magazine was the winner of several regional and national awards, including a Maggie Award for the Best City and Metropolitan Publication in the West in 2001 and 2004 (Western Publication Association) and the Silver Medal for General excellence at the National City and Regional Magazine Awards in 2003. Phil also writes for a number of regional publications including Arizona magazine, and Sources + Design.
