Highlands House Highlands House is an imposing Grade II listed double fronted Georgian house believed to have been built in 1823. The striking main façade is of red brick with rendered quoins and window surrounds thought to have been added to the house in 1863, under a slate roof with an octagonal glazed roof-top observatory. The property sits in a commanding position within its grounds on the edge of Mereworth village which has a farm shop, public house, primary school, recreation ground and a beautiful Palladian church. The house is conveniently located being a short distance from good local facilities including shops, supermarkets, restaurants and a David Lloyd Sports Club and with more extensive facilities easily accessible at Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and the Bluewater Shopping Centre. It is well placed for the many excellent primary, preparatory and secondary schools in the area. There are three mainline stations for use: Borough Green with trains to London Victoria and Paddock Wood, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks stations both offering a fast service to London Bridge, Cannon Street, Waterloo East and Charing Cross. The property has been meticulously restored and modernised by the current owners and is immaculately presented throughout. The principal accommodation is well laid out and benefits from elegant, well proportioned rooms with many original features including multi-panelled interior doors, sash windows with working shutters, deep skirting boards, high ceilings with cornice and ceiling roses and working fireplaces with either original or Chesney fireplaces. Of particular note are the magnificent drawing and sitting rooms which feature large bay windows overlooking the garden. The wooden flooring in both rooms was lifted, restored, insulated and re-laid and makes another fine feature. Like much of the property these are wired for a Sonos surround sound system as is the superb conservatory which leads from the drawing room and which is a wonderful space for entertaining. The sitting room has a large built in bookcase/tv unit with ample storage. The majority of work was done in the last four years and included extending the property to create a contemporary glass addition with roof lights which houses the fabulous kitchen/breakfast room. The kitchen has a full range of Gaggenau appliances and built-in Nespresso coffee machine as well as a cleverly disguised walk-in larder. It is open to the dining room, both having underfloor heating, and the study, and links easily to the boot room and cellar as well as with the former coach house, making it a true heart of the home. Sliding doors open onto the pretty herb garden. There is also a playroom off the study and hallway. An attractive curved staircase leads to the first floor and features a circular light well. The double aspect master bedroom has superb views over the gardens and a bespoke hand-made cedar wood dressing room The guest suite is equally impressive and could be used as the master. There are four further bedrooms, one of which is ensuite, as well as a large family bathroom. A staircase leads up to the observatory, which enjoys views of the surrounding countryside.

Extensive lawns stretch away from the house to the south, flanked by rhododendrons and mature trees, with a further small meadow beyond. To the east is a partially walled garden which has been well landscaped and has a long water feature with stepping stones and which is overlooked from the conservatory. To the west and north is the walled, herb and stone garden just off the kitchen. The property is approached by two entrances from a quiet country lane.
