7 Czech Cadastre jointly registers technical and legal interests of owners and other legally recognised subjects concerning real estate and its main atribute is the compulsory title registration based on the adjudication process. 7

8 Multipurpose cadastral system Czech cadastre meets the purposes stipulated by law: protection of property titles taxations and charges enviroment protection agricultural and forest land resources protection sights and landmarks protection property valuation purposes of science and statistics economic relationship to other information systems of PA 8

9 Forms of land registration Entry -changes of legal relations in the Cadastre on contractual base. These rights originate, change or delete by entry into the cadastre based on decision of a competent Cadastral Office (Cadastral Workplace). Record -changes in the Cadastre based mainly on decisions issued by state administration and Courts. Annotation - recording informative facts, and their deletions. 9

10 Further important tasks of Cadastral Workplaces gradual digitisation of analogue and numeric cadastral maps, participation in cadastral mapping and land consolidation utilised for renewal of cadastral documentation, checking and certification of legal surveys of licensed private surveyors, maintenance of digital and analogue cadastral maps, corrections of errors in cadastral documentation, providing information from the cadastral documentation, local database management 10

Operation of the Czech cadastral system requires expenditures approximately USD 87 million annually (1 USD = 23 Czech Crowns). The stagnation of cadastral income is primarily caused by permanently growing share of services and products provided free of charge (e.g. USD 14,6 million in 2004). 12
