The convening of the Congress arises out of the mandate from the United Nations Economic and Social Council to UN-GGIM a subsidiary body of ECOSOC to convene global forums to promote comprehensive dialogue on global geospatial information management with all relevant governments and stakeholders. One of the means is the provision of globally developed and agreed overarching policy guidance that can be referenced by Member States to develop, strengthen or modernize its land administration. This segment is a panel discussion where the panellists will underscore the importance and relevance of raising awareness and intensifying advocacy so that the benefits of effective land administration can be widely enjoyed, and significantly improve and accelerate the proportion of global population that had access to secure land and property rights.
