4 Majora Carter Keynote Speaker Building Proud Communities When New York City wanted to bring 40% of its trash to her neighborhood in the South Bronx, Majora Carter pushed back. Her goal of building a prouder community grew to include more than just green space. In partnership with local government, businesses, and neighborhood organizations, she has improved opportunities for transportation, fitness and recreation, nutrition, and economic development. Majora s lessons learned will remind us that environment is just one component in building a stronger, healthier community. Majora Carter is a leading urban revitalization strategy consultant, real estate developer, and Peabody Award winning broadcaster. She has been responsible for the creation and implementation of numerous green-infrastructure projects, policies, and job training and placement systems.
