2 Lund City Hall Stortorget Lund Sweden The City Hall is located right between Lund's distinguished, historical city center and a large new park to the west, and will host citizen service center and administration covering m² The New City Hall has a very ambitious green profile the building will use a fraction of the energy normally consumed by a building of this type The sustainable profile is created through an effort to design a building with a good indoor climate and advanced energy strategy based on solar power, earth water cooling and a grass roof as well as economically sensible solutions and integrated resource management, all part of a holistic balance within a sustainable house It will become the greenest City Hall in Sweden Project is public! m² Christensen & Co s Municipality of Lund ChristensenCos_CCO 8:00-16:00 2

3 Bakkegaard School Extension Skolebakken Gentofte Denmark This project was developed in an unusually close collaboration between architect, client and users One of the architects' tactics was to detonate a series of 'design bombs', architectural solutions that fulfil all the ideas and visions of all the stakeholders involved in the design process The new school building at Bakkegaard School creates a new centre in a former campus situation It stands on what was the old school yard, making room for an indoor sports arena that is also the school's new social space In addition, the architects decided to recreate the old school yard on the new roof The extension has created a 'schoolscape' out of the school building by allowing for a new connection and by opening up a new interior space The green façade is a clear articulation of the landscape theme that defines the interior of the building and its relation to its surroundings CEBRA's ability to work with a very high degree of user involvement generates refreshing design solutions Public access unknown! m² Main designer, Landscape architect CEBRA architecture Kragh & Berglund Søren Robert Lund Municipality of Gentofte Rasmus_Rune_Nielsen Located off Helsingørmotorvejen (motorway 19), near Nymose Park 3

4 Ordrup School Extension Grønnevænge Charlottenlund Denmark School extensions can create 'schoolscapes' by allowing for new connections and by opening up new interior spaces At Ordrup School, the new extension forms the fourth side of a square, making a loop out of what were previously three separate buildings Its plan maximizes connections between all parts of the old school; a system of short cuts allows for new and flexible ways of organizing the school day The programme consists of a café, a media library, a music room, teaching spaces and two auditoriums The larger of the two auditoriums is at once a place of passage and a place of gathering, as are all communal places The choice of colour for the façade is not just an aesthetic one; it also tells the story of the building, one about short cuts and connections between the different levels of the old school buildings The window panels on the second level are black - in contrast to the otherwise strong yellow - so they appear as cut-outs between the connective lines of the building Public access unknown! m² Main designer, CEBRA architecture Søren Robert Lund Municipality of Gentofte Rasmus_Rune_Nielsen Located in Charlottenlund/Ordrup, which is part of the Municipality of Gentofte 4

5 photo: Lund Hagem Arkitekter photo: Lund Hagem Arkitekter Ullensvang Planteforsk Off highway Lofthus Norway Planteforsk is the Norwegian national centre for agricultural and horticultural research It is comprised of 12 research stations located across the country, and the research station in Ullensvang, Lofthus, is responsible for research of fruit and berries The newly erected laboratory and maintenance building is an independent structure situated on a slope to the south of the existing complex The new building is partly buried into the hillside, with a sloping slate-roof rebuilding the terraced landscape In its modesty, the building emphasises the dramatic landscape The whole building has one built level Its structure is comprised of a combination of massive in-situ concrete under ground, and lighter laminated timber elements carrying the slate roof The concrete construction takes up the horizontal loads from the hillside The slate roof is a ventilated construction, and all floors are contructed directly on the ground photo: Lund Hagem Arkitekter Public access unknown! m² Lund Hagem Arkitekter Statsbygg Located in Hardanger County in western Norway The hamlet of Lofthus is located just north of Ullensvang, also on highway

7 photo: Niels Erik Lund photo: Niels Erik Lund Koncerthuset Emil Holms Kanal Copenhagen Denmark The concert centre Koncerthuset designed by renowned French architect Jean Nouvel, has a blue frontage, monumental, yet airy, as if the building had been carved out of the sky The frontage is a semi-transparent screen and the images projected onto the vast surfaces create constantly varying impressions which make the whole structure look as if it is in motion, organic and alluring The aural quality of the house has been ensured by Japanese acoustics experts Nagata Acoustics who were also behind La Philharmonie de Paris Nouvel has also designed all interior elements of Koncerthuset The shells on the outside of the Concert Hall (Studio 1) are clad with fibre-concrete, on the inside with rockwool and porous plaster The concert hall foyer is one large room distributed over 7 levels from c 25m underground to c 30m above ground level The largest space that welcomes the public has a depth of 96m Here 25 video projectors and 50 slide projectors show slides around the foyer photo: Niels Erik Lund Project is public! m² Jean Nouvel DR Forside MI_MOA By Metro, the stop is called "DR Byen" which is 3 minutes walk from Koncerthuset 7

8 Tjuvholmen F1 Tjuvholmen Allé F Oslo Norway Tjuvholmen serves as a window to European contemporary architecture This new neighbourhood is characterized by an intriguing architectural diversity and exceptional outdoor areas, all brought together by the master plan of one of Norway's most acclaimed architects, Niels Torp Among Norwegian architects who have contributed to the project are Kristin Jarmund, MAD, Kari Nissen Brodtkorb, Jensen & Skodvin og Lund Hagem International contributors include Danish Schmidt Hammer Lassen, Finnish Gullichsen Vormala, and Italian superstar Renzo Piano, who is behind the new Astrup Fearnley museum The oval building is designed in a total of 11 floors where the two lower floors are withdrawn Project is public! 2010 Niels Torp Nazar 8
