5 IEMEE Program The project has been developed to promote exchange of students in areas of Mechatronic, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science with a group of three European universities. These are: Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany Technical University of Łódź, Poland University of Vigo, Spain The purpose is to give students an opportunity to undertake industry-oriented research at an overseas partner institution Students and the research projects will be incorporated into the research projects of the respective host institution. The intention is to achieve a strong integration of visiting students in the local research team, to maximise linguistic, intercultural and technical experiences. 23 Financial Support Australian Government Funding Travel subsidy.$1,000 towards airfare Living allowance subsidy...$1,500 per month (pro-rata up to four months) Funds will be paid into bank account, two-three months before departure date If you do not go through with the exchange, you must repay the funds. 26 Youth Allowance/Austudy/Abstudy Students eligible for Youth Allowance, Austudy or Abstudy are able to receive these payments while on exchange. Once you are accepted to your exchange program you should contact the Education Abroad Office (EAO) to obtain a Centrelink letter. Make an appointment with Centrelink, take the Education Abroad Office (EAO) letter. 27 Travel and Transport Passport get one early. If you have one, it must be current for six months after the end of your overseas program. Travel arrangements Do not make any travel arrangements until your offer has been confirmed by the EU institution Travel Insurance compulsory Health Insurance may be compulsory to obtain a visa or a host institution requirement. 28 Working overseas In some countries it may be possible to work part-time while you are studying. We strongly suggest you don t rely on finding work to support yourself. 29 Expression of Interest Download Expression of Interest Form and Academic Reference forms from: Complete Expression of Interest Form Ask two referees for references (please ask referee to forward directly to Miranda Walker) Write Statement of purpose word essay stating why you want to go on exchange, also indicating preference of partner institutions and clearly demonstrating relevance of the specialization at the host institution to your research project. In addition, please indicate which period you wish to go on exchange.
