Also included are case studies submitted by visual communications educators from across the country, depicting their means and processes for implementing social design concepts into their coursework. 6 6. Research Projects Ongoing Research entitled Social Responsibility in the Visual Communications Curriculum was conducted from 10/07 through 5/08. Nearly 250 institutions of higher learning, that offered degrees in Communication Design, Graphic Design or Advertising Design, were contacted and asked to participate. Eighty four educators from 69 schools responded. The research indicated a need for a resource upon which educators could draw while including social responsibility in their coursework, and one was created in the form of a website. This website contains all of the resources compiled in the written research document along with updated pages with new listings suggested by visitors to the site. I am currently curating and maintaining the resource website with goals to expand the initiative into an online network for visual communications educators, students and professionals, to help meet the needs of nonprofit organizations and social causes.
