1 Commercial Architecture The American Mall & Postmodern mid-1970s - current Postmodern Architecture can be wide-ranging and eclectic. Architecture which can be double-coded, by combining modern materials with unique façades. It was a way to redo historical styles again or regional styles in other areas, yet still have modern functionality. An aim was to design spectacular settings for work and to shop. The American Mall developed into the new playground, taking consumerism away from original Main Streets and independent businesses.
