6 Architectural typology module Subjects Architectural typology 1, Architectural typology 2 Prof. Felix Schürmann Prof. Felix Schürmann Bachelor's degree 1 st and 2 nd semester Student research project In Architectural typology, we develop the specific requirements of a use as well as the universal typical structures of a building project. These typologies relate their characteristics, on the one hand, to the functional conditions and, on the other, to the regularities of the criteria of space, order, development, but also technical requirements and many more. Finally, collective-archetypical association and perception patterns act as supercultural constants on the design. Starting with the primal experiences of the place and the space, we elaborate the dependencies between architecture and human interaction. Recognition and integration of the various dependencies of architectural designing. Structure and sensitivity for sociological and functional basic knowledge. Application of this basic module of architectural understanding in concrete practice and design tasks of increasing complexity, involving external, technical, economical, or user-specific inputs. Lectures, supervised exercises, excursion Analyses, exercises, drawings, models None 120 hrs. 240 hrs. SWS 8 Credits 12 Cooperation with Design 1 and Design 2, as well as Urban design. Additional intra-university cooperation with other subject areas depending on the theme of the semester focus of the accompanying design exercises, such as building climate, project management. Likewise, references to specific building sites and user scenarios in Biberach and the wider region are made depending on the terms of reference of the design. Page B5

7 Construction module Subjects Construction 1, Construction 2 Prof. Gerhard Bosch, Prof. Hans-Ulrich Kilian, Prof. Matthias Loebermann Prof. Gerhard Bosch, Prof. Hans-Ulrich Kilian, Prof. Matthias Loebermann Bachelor's degree 1 st and 2 nd semester Student research project In the 1 st phase, the "Construction" module consists of the knowledge of the technical structural, structural construction and building material basics of essential components such as roof, exterior wall, base and foundation and the related basic terms and standards relating to the content. of the 2 nd Phase is the advanced knowledge of traditional and current building techniques and construction, as well as an understanding of the system relationship of load-bearing and space-enclosing components. This is closely linked with the conscious application of a wide range of construction materials and complex structures. The goal is the development of traditional construction types and of solid and frame construction with increasing complexity of the exercises. Here, students should apply adequate construction techniques and become acquainted with and fundamentally analyse construction materials and structural designs with their specifics. In addition, the development of complex building structures and support systems is applied independently by means of adequate laying principles and the processing of building physics, ecological, building and technical requirements. Introductory lectures, supervised exercises, excursion lecture portion: approximately 30%, supervised exercise portion: 70% System drawings, work plans and detailed drawings work model for structural support and shells None 180 hrs. 300 hrs. Furthermore, basic principles for the design of structures are outlined. Based on this, in the second semester, structural designs are developed by deriving the supporting structures from the internal component stresses on largescale, formable, "dynamic" models. The learning of the "point of view" of architecture from the perspective of the structural design theory of constructions is intended to establish a common understanding and vocabulary of architects and engineers. Furthermore, design exercises with the focus on the load bearing of components allow a basic understanding of the effect of forces on these components. This leads to a clear experience of the mechanisms required to resist these forces. Lectures and exercises (Structural design 1), supervised student research projects (Structural design 2), excursions Written examination after the 1 st semester ( Structural design theory 1), design exercises in the 2 nd semester ( Structural design theory 2) 120 hrs. 120 hrs.
