1 REGULATIONS of VII Minsk International Biennale of Young Architects "LEONARDO-2017" Approved by the Board of PA BUA Protocol No. 5 dated GENERAL INFORMATION The founder and organizer of the VI Minsk International Biennale of Young Architects "Leonardo 2015" (hereinafter referred to as the Biennale) is the Belarusian Union of Architects (BSA).The Biennale is held under the auspices and with the support of the Ministry of Architecture and Construction of Belarus, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Minsk City Executive Committee, International Union of Architects (UIA) and International Association of Unions of Architects (IAUA). The Biennale is held in the framework of the XII National Festival of Architecture in order to familiarize the public and foreign colleagues with the works of young architects in the last three years; to identify the best works and authors; to identify promising directions of development of architecture; to popularize creative achievements of young architects. Architects under the age of 40 years can participate in the Biennale. Works done in the course of professional (non-student) activities and not being exhibited at the previous "Leonardo" Biennale can participate in the Biennale. The number of works by the same author or group of authors is unlimited. The Biennale is held in three stages: Stage 1: June, 08 September, 25 - online registration and supply electronic copy of the work for assessment by the authoritative international jury. Payment of the registration fee (Appendix B). Stage 2: October, 01 - October, 14 the international jury will determine the winners in each category in 2 sections "Buildings" and "Projects". Stage 3: November, 09 - November, 11 exhibition of all the works that participated in the Biennale will take place in the Palace of Arts (Minsk, Kozlova St., 3), the winners will be announced and presented with awards. 3 weeks prior the event all the winners will receive a personal invitation to spend these days in Minsk at the cost of the organizers of the Biennale (accommodation, meals, cultural program). Architectural works executed in a professional manner, of social and public importance, with high architectural, artistic, engineering and economic characteristics can be recognized the best. The best works participating in the Biennale will be awarded the prize of VII Minsk International Biennale of Young Architects "Leonardo 2017". 2. SECTIONS AND NOMINATIONS In the Biennale all works can participate in two sections: "Buildings" and "Projects". Facilities built and put into operation in the years can participate in the "Buildings" section. The "Projects" section involves projects, pre-proposals and author`s concepts. In each section the fallowing nominations are determined: 1. Urban planning and layout. 2. Public and industrial complexes and buildings. 3. Residential multi-storey houses. 1

2 4. Residential single family houses and low-rise houses (1-3 floors). 5. Landscape architecture, urban street design, monumental art and sculpture in architecture. 6. Interior of buildings and structures. 3. AWARDS AND PRIZES The following awards are established for the winners of the Biennale: 1. For the best work in the "Building" category - "Great Grand Prix", the Biennale medal, diploma and a cash prize of $ 1000; 2. For the best work in the "Project" category - "Small Grand Prix", the Biennale medal, diploma and a cash prize of $ 500; 3. The winner of the nomination in each section - a medal and a diploma of the Biennale; In the case of the jury's decision to establish a second place in the category a diploma of the Biennale. In addition to prizes, "Leonardo 2017" works will be awarded with diplomas of BUA, IAUA and other organizations, as well as special prizes. 4. JURY The jury of 5 persons is appointed by the Board of the PA "BUA". The Chairman will be determined by the approved jury. The jury will include famous foreign architects, as well as leading architects of the Republic of Belarus. On October, 01 - October, 14 the jurors will determine the winners in all categories and sections by online voting and awarding the projects with relevant points. The jurors will visit the Biennale on November, 09 - November, 11 with the aim to announce the results of the Biennale and diplomas and medals award ceremony. The jurors are not eligible to participate in the Biennale. Decisions made by the jury are certified by protocols signed by all members of the jury who participated in the online voting. In case several projects receive the same number of points, the Chairman's vote is decisive. 5. REGISTRATION FOR PARTICIPATION To participate in the Biennale a responsible representative of authors group should: 1. Register on the site: bsa.by: until September 25, 2017 (you need to register each object participating in the Biennale). 2. Send an electronic copy of the work in JPEG or TIFF format (sketch-board 1400 (h) x 900 cm, resolution 300 dpi) to minskleonardo@gmail.com until September 25, If possible, you should attach main images in the same format at the rate of A4 size (297 х 210mm). 3. Pay the registration fee until September 25, 2017 (Appendix В). 6. REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITION OBJECTS Objects are presented by the author or by the responsible representative of a group of authors. The materials must be submitted in JPEG or TIFF format (sketch-board 1400 (h) x 900 cm, resolution of 300 dpi). One object must be placed on one sketch-board and presented according to design scheme of the object (Appendix B). Works can be presented in any form (photographs, drawings, etc.). The object must be presented in the most comprehensive way (plans in a readable scale, general plan (situation plan), elevations (sweep), images (photos), technical and economic parameters, etc.) and to be presented on a separate sketch-board. At the top of the sketch-board in a margin of the height of 150 mm information about the object should be placed according to the scheme. You must specify the name (s) of the participant (s) of the Biennale and the extent of their participation in the project (author, co-author, a member of a group of architects, etc.), the entire team of authors, as well as the name of the organization, that fulfilled the project. In the upper right corner you need to place the appropriate box signifying 2

3 "Section" and "Nomination" of the project. Colour square of 60x60 mm represents a nomination of the contest. 1. Blue - Urban planning and layout. 2. Red - Public and industrial complexes and buildings. 3. Orange - Residential multi-storey houses. 4. Yellow - Residential low-rise houses. 5. Green - Landscape architecture, urban street design, monumental art and sculpture in architecture. 6. Grey - Interiors of buildings and constructions. The black outline around the coloured square of thickness of 15 mm represents the "Construction" section, its absence means the "Projects" section. Objects presented at the Biennale that failed to follow these requirements will be exhibited, but will not be considered by the jury. 8. 5 Appendix B REGISTRATION FEE The organizing committee introduces a registration fee and undertakes the production of exhibition materials (constructions) of the projects submitted by . Registration fee makes up: For the citizens of the Republic of Belarus: 35 Euro for one sketch-board. Payment is made only in Belarusian rubles at the exchange rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on the date of payment. For non-residents of the Republic of Belarus: for one sketch-board - 35 / $ 40 / Russian rubles - 35 euro at the exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on the day of payment.
