Its brick colors, punched window openings and limestone-colored base replicate existing rhythms in the neighborhood. The addition of metal clad bays and patterned concrete wall panels add a 21st century touch to these contextual elements.

The awards were presented at a gala event hosted by actor, motivational speaker and Veterans housing advocate J.R. Martinez during the International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas. Each year, NAHB recognizes individuals, companies and organizations for excellence in residential green design and construction practices and for green building program and advocacy efforts. The NAHBGreen Awards represent the best of the best in green building practices and advocacy efforts, and this year s group of winners is particularly impressive, said NAHB Chairman Rick Judson, a home builder from Charlotte, N.C. The demand for green building is growing exponentially, and these honorees are a great example of what can be accomplished in terms of sustainable and energy-efficient building practices. The Green Advocate awards category honors those groups and individuals who have demonstrated unique dedication to informing and inspiring others on the benefits of green building for homeowners and for the planet. The Green Project Awards category highlights those projects showcasing outstanding application of green techniques and technologies to a variety of project types. All projects are scored to the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard to establish the relative sustainability of each, and then judged on other merits such as green innovation and design. Green Site Development projects were honored in two categories: Project of the Year: Green Site Development Single-family Detached: Rivera Greens, Buffalo, N.Y., Natale Building Corp., Clarence, N.Y. Project of the Year: Green Site Development Multifamily/Mixed Use: Emory Point Phase 1, Atlanta, Ga. Gables, Residential, Atlanta, Ga.
