Howell: According to Ann Kinlaw Williams, as told to her by Rannie Kinlaw King, Clarence Kinlaw, Ada Kinlaw Carroll, Caudie Brisson, and Thurmond Allen, on the night that Harriet died, she told Rannie and Ada that she could hear moans, groans, and labored breathing coming from behind the headboard of her bed. Neither Ranie or Ada could hear the sounds and thought that she was delirious. On the day of her funeral, relatives and friends wondered why the family had not heard from her sister Emaline, who was blind, and her brother Onles. When someone went to their house to check, both were dead of natural causes. The three siblings died on the same day in June of 1924.
