Collection#: AR 642 Historical Sketch The North Carolina Baptist Historical Society Papers were published quarterly by a publication committee of the North Carolina Baptist Historical Society, in October, January, April, and July from The NCBHS publication committee included Rev. James Dunn Hufham, Rev. Thomas Jerome Taylor, and Thomas Merritt Pittman. Hufham, who had served as editor of the Biblical Recorder during the Civil War from , served as editor of the North Carolina Baptist Historical Papers. Each volume contains papers, historical sketches, biographical essays, and republications of rare and inaccessible prints by and about Baptists in North Carolina. Each volume is about sixty pages long and most volumes include a notes and comments section and book notes section as addendums. Some volumes include a portrait or other depiction of an individual or church discussed in that issue of the publication. Scope and Content Note The North Carolina Baptist Historical Papers Collection consists of.5 linear feet of material (eleven folders contained in one document box) documenting the proceedings of the North Carolina Baptist Historical Society from 1896 to This paper-copy collection includes an entire run of the publication, missing Volume 3 numbers 1-2. The finding aid lists author and article title information for each volume. In the case of the missing issues, the title page from the microfilm copy of the issues was printed and included in the collection. The entire run of the NCBHP is available on microfilm at the SBHLA, MF # 291. A bound copy of the proceedings is available in the SBHLA rare book room, call # Rare BX6248.N Arrangement The collection is arranged in chronological order.
