6 Current projects BRISTOL OLD VIC THEATRE Bristol Old Vic theatre are redeveloping the front of house areas with a new foyer and a new studio. The works include the refurbishment of the 18th Century Coopers Hall, enable the reveal of the original 1766 theatre façade and provide public access to the Thunder Run - the 18th century surround sound system to create the sound of thunder in performances. GVA Acuity is appointed as project manager and employer s agent with two stage design and build procurement. Haworth Tompkins is both architect lead consultant with Charcoalblue as theatre consultant and acoustician. Construction started in autumn 2016 with completion in summer Haworth Tompkins

7 SOHO PLACE Derwent London has secured planning consent for a new theatre and office building at Soho Place over the new Tottenham Court Crossrail station and has agreed the principles of a lease with commercial theatre operator Nimax. GVA Acuity is providing an individual on a secondment basis to act as the developer s internal project manager during the completion of RIBA stage 3 and through 2017 for RIBA stage 4 and the second stage of the two stage design and build procurement. AHMM is lead designer with Haworth Tompkins responsible for design of the auditorium and Charcoalblue as Theatre Consultant and Arup as Acoustician. Construction is planned to start in 2018 with completion planned for TUNBRIDGE WELLS Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is considering disposing of its existing civic offices and Assembly Hall Theatre venue for future development in order to create a new theatre in the town. A new 1200 seat receiving theatre would be created on the site of a new civic development, close to Calverley Grounds. The development is dependent on funding and planning consent. GVA Acuity was lead consultant and project manager for a multidisciplinary team that delivered the development appraisal and RIBA stage 1 study with architectural input from Allies & Morrison. Allies and Morrison 7

8 Delfont Mackintosh Theatres Ltd SONDHEIM THEATRE Delfont Mackintosh Theatres plans to create a new theatre in London s West End on the site of the Ambassadors Theatre. Purchase of the theatre is dependent on planning consent being secured. If DMT proceeds, the theatre will be renamed the Sondheim Theatre and will be a new venue for exciting and innovative productions emerging from the subsidised theatre sector. GVA Acuity are appointed as project managers and lead consultant. TOWN HALL AND CLOCKTOWER, CROYDON GVA Acuity were commissioned by Croydon Council to lead a study to improve the utilisation of the Town Hall and Clocktower cultural complex. The study looked at the organisational, management and minor architectural changes which would provide small scale performance, improve utilisation of space, operational efficiency and income from events and catering. CENTRE FOR MUSIC GVA Acuity was appointed to project manage a feasibility study into creating a world-class new Centre for Music, including a concert hall, at the heart of the City of London. The project was spear-headed by Sir Simon Rattle and led by the Barbican Centre and Guildhall School of Music and Drama together with the London Symphony Orchestra and the City of London. Following extensive consultations with stakeholders, a range of options were analysed both artistically and financially and an OBC and Feasibility Study report published in December

25 Chris Dumas Tim Cutter Mike Cook Mark Anderson Pawel Banasiak Senior Director Chris is a chartered civil engineer who moved into client-side project management in 1994 having started his career in UK and international contracting. Chris has broad experience of both private and public funded projects such as the refurbishment of the Barbican Concert Hall and the Birmingham Rep and the new Wales Millennium Centre. Since 2002, Chris has led GVA Acuity s project management team which has included commissions for the London Symphony Orchestra and the National Theatre and is currently leading the work at Tunbridge Well and on the Sondheim Theatre chris.dumas@gva.co.uk Director Tim joined GVA Acuity as a director in 2017 to develop and lead the Arts and Culture team. With over 10 years experience working with visual arts organisations and buildings of national importance he has valued experience in OJEU procurement, HLF funding and working with the challenges of Grade I listed buildings. Tim has delivered a programme of high value, complex projects for the Victoria and Allbert museum including the award winning Medieval and Renaissance galleries, Furniture and Jewellery galleries. Projects also include the landmark Exhibition Road project and Sackler Education centre tim.cutter@gva.co.uk Associate Mike has been managing capital projects in the cultural sector for over 20 years. He has delivered projects in many Grade 1 listed properties including the refurbishment of the Museum of the Order of St John and the refurbishment of the Natural History Museum s restaurants. Mike joined the Arts and Culture team at GVA Acuity at the beginning of 2011 and delivered the PM and Contract Administrator role on Liverpool Everyman Theatre and the Shaftesbury Theatre and the PM role on York Theatre Royal. He is currently working with Derwent London on Soho Place and with Really Useful Group on Theatre Royal, Drury Lane mike.cook@gva.co.uk Senior Project Manager Mark has 20 years experience in the construction industry with extensive knowledge in construction, procurement and project management. He has managed a variety of commercial, infrastructure and arts projects and is currently the Project Manager on Tunbridge Wells and the 12m Bristol Old Vic Theatre refurbishment, having previously worked on the new build Unicorn Theatre mark.anderson@gva.co.uk Assistant Project Manager Pawel has experience assisting with the project management of a number of arts and culture projects, conducting due diligence and feasibility studies, consultant procurement and preparing detailed master programmes for redevelopment works.
