5 NORTH CAROLINA ELECTRICAL CODE, 2005 EDITION Ar ti cle 10 - AD MIN IS TRA TIVE SEC TION 10.1 TI TLE These Ad min is tra tive Reg u la tions along with the re quire - ments in cluded in the 2005 Edi tion of the Na tional Elec tri cal Code (NFiPA ) as ap proved by the North Carolina Build ing Code Coun cil on De cem ber 14, 2004, to be ef fec tive March 1, 2005, with the fol low ing amend ments: (1) 210.8(a)(3) (Ex cep tion No. 2) (2) shall be known as the North Carolina Elec tri cal Code, and may be cited as such or as the State Elec tri cal Code; and will be re - ferred to herein as the code or this code SCOPE Ar ti cle 80 Ad min is tra tion and En force ment of the code is hereby not adopted and does not ap ply for this code. For Scope and Ex cep tions to Ap pli ca bil ity of Tech ni cal Codes, re fer to the North Carolina Ad min is tra tion and En force ment Code TEM PO RARY POWER For the re quire ments for tem po rary power, re fer to the North Carolina Ad min is tra tion and En force ment Re quire ments Code RE QUIRE MENTS OF OTHER STATE AGEN CIES, OC CU PA TIONAL LI CENS ING BOARDS, OR COM - MIS SIONS The North Carolina State Build ing Codes do not in clude all ad di tional re quire ments for build ings and struc tures that may be im posed by other State agen cies, oc cu pa tional li cens ing boards, and com mis sions. It shall be the re spon si bil ity of a per mit holder, de sign pro fes sional, con trac tor, or oc cu pa - tional li cense holder to de ter mine whether any ad di tional re - quirements exist PUR POSE The pur pose of the code is to pro vide cer tain min i mum stan - dards, pro vi sions and re quire ments of safe and sta ble de sign, meth ods of con struc tion and uses of ma te ri als in build ings and/or struc tures here af ter erected, con structed, en larged, al - tered, re paired, moved, con verted to other uses of de mol ished and to reg u late the elec tri cal sys tems, equip ment, main te - nance, use and oc cu pancy of all build ings and/or struc tures. All reg u la tions con tained in this code shall have a rea son able and sub stan tial con nec tion with the pub lic health, safety, mor - als, or gen eral wel fare, and their pro vi sions shall be con strued lib er ally to those ends AD MIN IS TRA TION For ad min is tra tive reg u la tions per tain ing to in spec tion (rough-ins and fi nals), per mits and Cer tif i cates of Elec tri cal Com pli ance, see lo cal or di nances and the North Carolina Ad - min is tra tive and En force ment Re quire ments Code. Ex cep tion No. 2 to (3): A sin gle out let re cep ta cle sup plied by ded i cated branch cir cuit which is lo cated and iden ti fied for spe cific use by a sew age lift pump
