He died on 10 Mar 1707/08 in Palantinate, Bittingheim, Bayern, Germany. Notes for Daniel Ferree aka Fuehre Fiere: Descendants of Daniel Ferree Generation No DANIEL2 FERREE (JEAN1 LA VERREE) was born March 10, 1646/47 in Picardie, France1, and died 1687 in Lindau, Palintinate1. He married MARIE DE LA WARREMBERE 1675 in Picardie, France1. She was born 1650 in Picardie, Loire, France1, and died January 1715/16 in Conestoga Twp, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania1. Notes for DANIEL FERREE: SOURCE: The Pennsylvania LeFevres by George Newton LeFevre, page 4. He was a Huguenot and wealthy silk manufacturer. They lived in Landau, France along the Rhine River and had 6 children. After the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685 the family fled to Strasburg. While there they were joined by Isaac LeFevre, a lad of 16. They later fled on into Bavaria, Germany. While living in Bavaria Isaac LeFevre married Catherine Ferree. After Daniel died, he wife assumed her maiden name for safety. SOURCE: from Allen Schieber 23/39/1996 to Michael A. Smoke. (He quotes History of Lancaster Co., PA. pages 24-39, Louis Du Bois Family History on file at the York County Historical Genealogical Society in York, Pa.) SOURCE: The Story of the Feree Family, Emory Schuyler Ferree, 829 So. Mulberry Avenue, Brea, CA, 1990, p5-1,2. In the late 1600's the Catholic Church decreed that only given names from the New Testament could be used. Daniel was the RC birth name, John was the Huguenot name after conversion. He was a prosperous silk manufacturer. Daniel died while the family lived in Strasbourg. Details of his death are lacking- one report says he was slain during the insurrection in France following the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes. He may have died before 1708, Lindau, Bavaria. SOURCE: Concerning Daniel's death: "Early in the year 1708, Madam FERREE with her children and daughter-in-law made plans to leave for the "Island of' Pennsylvania and obtained a passport dated 10 march She was a widow. Her husband, Daniel, aka John, had died while they lived in Strasbourg. Details of his death are lacking, but one report says that he was lost at sea. We wonder under what circumstances. had he attempted to go to American earlier to join his friends? We do not know. Page 1 of 8

2 Generation 2 Another report referring to the husband as John, says he 'was among those slain during the insusrrection in France.' There were insurrections by the Huguenots following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. Which report could be correct? Could both be correct? The abridged compendium of American Genealogy says he died in exile." Marie Catherine 'Mary' Ferree-3 (Daniel Ferree aka-2, Jean-1) was born on 26 Mar 1679 in Landau, Bavaria, France. She died on 28 Mar 1752 in Bethlehem, PA. Isaac LeFevre son of Abraham LaFevre and Unknown was born on 26 Mar 1669 in Cahteau-Chinon,Nievre, France. He died on 01 Oct 1751 in Strasburg, Lancaster, PA. Notes for Isaac LeFevre: See web page o the LaFevre Family at: Isaac and Catherine Ferree LeFevre It is known that Catherine Ferree LeFevre's brother Daniel Ferree and wife Anna Maria Leininger were members of the Walloon Reformed Church in Pelican, Palatinate of Germany in 5/10/1708, when they were granted a church letter to move to Pennsylvania. Probably they had been members for perhaps as long as 20 years before that. Though no document is known today for Isaac LeFevre and his family, it would certainly seem that Daniel Ferree's sister and her husband would have been eligible, for they were there during the same Page 2 of 8

3 Generation 3 period of time. They were certainly of the same church connection. They arrived in New York City January 1, Sometime the following Spring they moved from the Newburgh colony site offered them by England's Queen Anne as part of her deal with them to settle her new country. Because of dissension that broke out within that colony, the Ferrees and LeFevres went farther north up the Hudson River to New Paltz, New York, just a very few miles south of Kingston, New York. While living there on 3/16/1710 the second child was born to Catherine and Isaac LeFevre, and the New Paltz Church was without a minister at that time. So they journeyed to Kingston where in the Old Dutch Reformed Church Domine Petrus Vas baptised young infant Philip 4/1/1711. Witnesses were French friends Isaak and Rachel Duboy (DuBois). This baptism would seem to indicate their preferred church connection was still to the Reformed Church. Very likely they were part of the organizing group who started the Pequea Congregation of the Reformed Church in the small log "union church," built just to the southern boundry of their tracts, the Old Dutch Church, or went to Lancaster churches. Such were the very likely church experiences that were open to them in these early years in Pennsylvania. The oldest records of these churches have been searched for any records of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren so we can to try to glean what their church preferences were. Special gratitude must be expressed to George Newton LeFevre and Franklin D. Lefever for their book entitled THE PENNSYLVANIA LEFEVRES, and for the unique manner their numbering system employed, making it easy to identify so many of the family by name and birth date, thereby giving access to their genealogy. Isaac LeFevre died October 1, 1751 in Lancaster, Pa., and is believed to be buried with his wife, Catherine Ferree LeFevre, in graves beside her mother, Madam Marie Warambauer Ferree, in Carpenter's Cemetery on Black Horse Road at the Strasburg Railroad in Paradise, Pa. Isaac's will was recorded in Will Book J, volume 1, at page 135, located in the Lancaster County Court Archives in Lancaster, Pa History of the LeFevre Bible This Bible, the only item that Isaac LeFevre rescued from his home following the martyrdom of his entire family, was printed in Geneva in 1608, one of thousands spread undercover throughout France by the Calvinists. How it came into his family's possession is unknown, though it was likely acquired at great risk. To be caught in possession of a Bible could bring instant death in France at that time. Isaac joined the Ferree family in their escape from France following the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes, and smuggled the Bible to safety in Bavaria. According to tradition it was concealed in a loaf of bread. Isaac LeFevre was indeed a Frenchman, using the French language to list the birth of each of his children, even after they had come to America. After the name of each child is in French "est ne" meaning "is born Abraham LeFevre est ne April 9, Philip LeFevre est ne March 16, Daniel LeFevre est ne March 29, Mary LeFevre est ne August 24, Ester LeFevre est ne May 3, Samuel LeFevre est ne June 28, Isaac remained loyal to his Huguenot Christian faith and carried this Bible with him throughout his travels until his homegoing at the age of 83. Afterwards, it was passed down through several generations before finally reaching its permanent home at the Lancaster County Historical Society. This Bible remains the greatest treasure of the Pennsylvania LeFevres. Page 3 of 8

Up to the time of her death, she did all her own housework, climbing ladders to clean her windows or replace sashcords. At one time she even made her own soap. She never drove, but walked to the farmer's market at 12th and Spring Garden Streets. She was a dear, kind, friendly lady. She wore pinch-nose glasses all of her adult life. Robbins and Marietta Unknown was born in 1870 in Philadelphia, PA. He died in 1928 in Easton, PA. Notes for Eldridge E. Robbins: It is thought that Eldridge was raised on a canal boat in Philadelphia and that his parents may have come from Ireland (possibly Irish/Welsh descent). He was a sickly baby. As an adult, he married and then went to Vermont to learn to be a stone cutter. He apparently learned his skill while working on the memorial that is in the circle in Easton, PA. He returned to Easton and started the monument business "E. Robbins and son" in The business location was 203 North 7th street, Easton, PA, near the Easton Cemetery.
