2 TEAM COMPOSITION ESTUDIO ESTRATEGIAS + SGS ECONOMICS & PLANNING Estudio Estrategias is an Architecture, Urban Design and Planning firm with offices in Córdoba and Buenos Aires (Argentina). It was created in 2003 with the purpose of designing and delivering architectural and urban design projects. Estudio Estrategias works with public and private sector clients, it has also been successful in winning a number of public tenders and design competitions, as for example: AFIP (Federal Tax Administration), Córdoba (Argentina) Head Offices Second Prize Competition, Catamarca New Bus Terminal Area, Argentina Urban Renewal First Prize, Competition / Tucumán (Argentina) Central and Historical District Urban Renewal Second Prize Competition, / North Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, Ideas for mobility improve. First Prize, Competition / Currently, the office develops the project for ATE (state workers union) head offices in Córdoba. Their website can be accessed at The following key professionals from Estudio Estrategias make up the team for this project, along with professionals from SGS Economics & Planning: Celina Caporossi (1967) is an architect graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, National University of Córdoba (FAUD, UNC), where she is now Head Professor of Urban Design and an active researcher. She has specialist qualifications in Land-Use Management: Urbanism, Infrastructure and Environment (UOC, Barcelona). Celina is a founder and director of Estudio Estrategias. She is the author of numerous publications and has travelled internationally for work purposes, including to Australia in March 2013 on the Planning Connections Program supported by the Planning Institute of Australia and the Council on Australia and Latin America Relations. Fernando Díaz Terreno (1968) is a graduate architect from the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, National University of Córdoba (FAUD, UNC), and is a founder and director of Estudio Estrategias. He is currently completing a PhD in Urbanism at the Polytechnic University of Cataluña, Spain (ETSAB, UPC). He works as a professor of urban design and researcher at FAUD, UNC. He has been the lead designer and planner on a number of significant urban projects. He is the author of numerous publications. Marcelo Corti (1957) is an architect and urban planner from the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism, Universidad de Buenos Aires (FADU, UBA). He received a master s degree: The City: policies, projects and management, from the University of Barcelona. His experience in private and public practice in architecture, urban design and planning spans over 35 years. He is Head Professor of Urban Planning at the University of Salvador, Argentina, Professor of Urban Management at the Open University of Cataluña, Spain and Director of Practical Projects in the Urbanism Course of the FADU-UBA. He is it the Chief Editor of the Café de las Ciudades journal, one of the largest urban issues publications in the Spanish language. He has numerous print and online publications. Hayley Henderson (1983) is an Australian urban planner and has a background in social planning and international development. She has a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning and a Master of Development Practice from the University of Queensland, Australia. She is now a PhD student in urban planning at The University of Melbourne, Australia and undertakes independent consulting work. She is currently working as a specialist consultant on the Cities Alliance Program sponsored by the World Bank, to deliver strategic planning strategies for three municipalities in the Province of Buenos Aires. She is based in Melbourne, Australia. SGS Economics & Planning is a firm of urban and regional economists and planners with offices in Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. It has over 50 core professional staff and annual billings of around $8.6 million. The firm has been in continuous operation since SGS provides advice to shape policy and investment decisions in favour of sustainable urban and regional development. SGS has an impressive record of strategic business planning and feasibility studies for museums, galleries, cultural tourism facilities, parks and gardens and other cultural facilities. As noted, SGS has a long history of involvement in planning and appraising investments in arts and tourism infrastructure. For example, SGS assisted the Museum of Modern Art at Heide (Victoria) with its first comprehensive strategic plan in the mid 1990s. This laid the basis for considerable government and philanthropic investment in the site. SGS also played a pivotal role in the dedication of the Abbotsford Convent complex as a community based arts precinct. The firm prepared the cost benefit analysis which highlighted the long term benefits of the site as a cultural hub and source of regional open space. They will be directed by Dr. Marcus Spiller Dr. Marcus Spiller is an economist and planner with extensive experience in public policy analysis. In his early professional career, he was employed as a strategic planner in various local government and state government settings. He has operated in a consultancy role for more than 25 years. In this time he has developed specialist expertise in the analysis of economic competitiveness at the regional and city levels, as well as the design of programs and initiatives to capitalize on these strengths. More generally, Marcus has written extensively on the links between urban policy and national economic performance, arguing that, in a post industrial world, efficient and sustainable cities are a critical source of productivity growth for advanced countries like Australia. Marcus has a particular interest in the factors which govern the propensity for innovation in regional economies. He successfully completed a PhD thesis on this topic in Marcus has prepared cost benefit analyses and financial feasibility assessments of a range of major infrastructure projects, covering transport, housing and cultural institutions. Fernando Vanoli (1986) is an architect graduated from FAUD, UNC. He is an architect and urban designer with Estudio Estrategias. He is also editor of Revista Enredados, a local publication on urban design and city matters. He is an urban design tutor at FAUD UNC. Héctor Paez Ferreyra (1987) is in his last year of Architecture studies at FAUD, UNC. He is editor of Revista Enredados.
