4 letter from the president Dear Valued Industry Partners, A new year brings new resolutions, positive changes, and a refreshed outlook for all of us. It s hard to believe the new year is upon us already and with it, a revised IIDA Illinois Partnership Package. We have watched carefully as the Partnership Package came to fruition last year and we have taken all of your feedback, both good and bad, into careful consideration for this year s version. The IIDA IL Chapter is always working tirelessly to find ways to improve and enhance our offerings, while adding value to our membership. This past year exemplifies just that with an established array of signature events that have gone through an evolution of positive change. We held a successful second annual Recognizing Exemplary Design (RED) Awards in a new venue, exceeded our attendance goal at STITCH in its ninth year, and honored our 15th Industry Leader at IIDA Leaders Breakfast. This year, we saw an opportunity to provide even more flexibility and choice to our industry supporters. We took a deeper look at the offerings of each Partner level, paying close attention to what s important to you. As you begin to look through the Partnership Package, you will see just that. We have split up the offerings into six major categories for easy perusing Signature Events,, Quarterly News, Website, Recognition, and Annual Celebration. We are thrilled to debut a new Visionary level to maximize the available options and benefits, and truly get the biggest bang for your buck. Still have that favorite event you like to sponsor each year? Don t worry, we have you covered. By opting in as a Chapter Friend, your support can now go directly to that particular event. It can even be added above and beyond your Chapter Partnership or can be a stand-alone selection it is your choice! While we want to minimize the number of times our Board and volunteers knock on your door for monetary support, this format continues to be set up on a first come, first serve basis. We want everyone to get what they want, so do not delay with your registration. As a reminder, your contributions to IIDA Illinois go to support the Chapter. Without it, we would not be able to offer three Signature events, countless learning opportunities and project tours, 9 Select events, and cover our day-to-day operations. Our Board and Committees consist of 100% unpaid, passionate volunteers, however, all of these fantastic events and accompanying operations are far from free. 5 get to know us What is IIDA? The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is a professional networking and educational association. With 31 Chapters around the world, IIDA is comprised of more than 13,000 Members in 10 specialty Forums committed to enhancing the quality of life through excellence in Interior Design and advancing Interior Design through knowledge. IIDA Vision Enhance business value, solve problems, and positively impact the health and well-being of people s lives through a greater understanding of Interior Design. Advance Interior Design through education, legislation, leadership, design excellence, accreditation, and community outreach. We increase the value and understanding of Interior Design as a profession that enhances business value and positively impacts the health and wellbeing of people s lives every day. The History of IIDA IIDA was founded in 1994 as the result of the merger of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD), the International Society of Interior Designers (ISID), and the Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID). IIDA embodies the goal of the merger, which was to create an international association with a united mission that would represent Interior Designers worldwide and speak on their behalf with a single voice. 5

Local artists, designers, and community members volunteer to flip used items (furniture or otherwise) into works of art and give them a new life. The completed pieces are donated to Artiture where they are auctioned off at a silent auction. Past charities that we have given to as a direct result of this event are Make A Wish Foundation & Habitat for Humanity. Join the IIDA Illinois Chapter as we welcome dozens of local artisans and crafters to display their unique, handmade items for purchase. Shop the newest trends while sipping wine, mingling with your peers and supporting a great cause. Chicagoland designers hail from all walks of life creating diverse and interesting skill sets. First Rounds is a tried and true event, and with games and prizes it is always a blast. The NICC will carry on the socializing by bringing out to the suburbs. Come join in on the fun. The first round is on us! The IIDA CICC hosts an annual mixer and membership drive, drawing designers, industry reps, and design students from all over Central Illinois. Come out for an evening of food and libations, and connect with others in the community with games and prizes. educational Join us for Designed to Find as the Chicago Architecture and Design community gather for an urban architectural scavenger hunt! Teams of 2-5 solve clever clues and face fun challenges all while navigating downtown Chicago via foot or on public transportation. It s a scavenger hunt, with all the thrills of The Amazing Race, mixed in with Trivial Pursuit, throw in a mini foot race and add a dash of cat-and-mouse. And voila! You ve got Designed to Find. The final clue will send all of the teams to a celebratory location for team awards and prizes like Best Team Costume, Highest Team Points and more. See you there! Create. Inspire. Network. Design professionals are able to show off their talents, receive critiques by Chicago s most influential designers and architects, and learn ways to improve your professional portfolio.
