2 photo: Klaus Frahm photo: Klaus Frahm Side Drehbahn Hamburg Side is a 5-star hotel in Hamburg located at a very central location, between the Gänsemarkt square and the National Opera, close to the Binnenalster and only a few minutes walk from art and cultural centers as well as shopping precincts The architect Jan Störmer created a forward-looking facade featuring a combination of glass and nature stone that stretches across all 12 floors From the top 3 floors, you have a wonderful view across Hamburg This architecture is complimented by the work of designer Matteo Thun Just minimalist, reducing everything to the bare essentials, that is the fundamental idea behind the work of Matteo Thun when he decorated the public spaces The atrium-styled lobby, which stretches up to the 8th floor, lives from the illuminated installations of the New York light choreographer Robert Wilson photo: Klaus Frahm Main designer, Interior architect Client Jan Störmer Partner Matteo Thun Seaside Hotels GmbH & Co KG MI_MOA 2

3 ADA1 An der Alster Hamburg The building site is situated at the intersection between Hamburg's lively downtown and its urban landscape rich in water and mature trees It is at the transition from city to nature, and the gateway building to the bustling metropolitan core The horizontal striped façade with its floating 'eyes' celebrates the view onto this unique context A public park in front of the building continues the design strategy of the façade into the landscape The 'eyes' in the façade and the platforms in the park form places to meet and contemplate The office spaces serve both a generic spatial layout and specific moments related to the 'eyes' Large spans provide for various office layout configurations in combination with balconies and climatically tempered outdoor spaces of the 'eyes' The office building 'An der Alster 1' links interior and exterior spaces to the public park in front of the building (text from architect's website) Public access unknown! 2007 Client J Mayer H Architekten Cogiton Projekt Alster GmbH pkrajewski_pl 3

4 LTD-1 Lübeckertordamm Hamburg This new office building, in use by Securvita, was designed on the grounds of St Georg Hospital in Hamburg It is a transition from the hospital complex that will culminate in the future housing complex (which will also be a part of the hospital complex) The configuration of the four wings that are similar to green boomerangs creates an internal courtyard which is accessible for everyone Well-ventilated office spaces, the use of natural materials and the layout of the spaces based on the principles of Feng Shui for stress, are combined in the main health centre A healthy lifestyle and friendly work environment are combined with harmony 2006 Pysall Ruge Architekten pkrajewski_pl 4

5 photo: FH Berliner Tor Erweiterung Berliner Tor Hamburg FH Berliner Tor is an university high-rise building which is a part of Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW) school complex in Hamburg Building was designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au in collaboration with Hamburg based architectural office Schaub & Partners sproject is 52m hight and contain 15 floorsmost elevators end on the sixth floor in order to promote use of the stairs Object holds 4 lecture halls and 33 studio spaces, plus seminar rooms and the university's administration Floor area/size m² Main designer, Client Coop Himmelb(l)au Schaub & Partners s Siemens Gebäudetechnik Nord pkrajewski_pl photo: 5

6 Church Community Building Bei der Petrikirche Hamburg Next to the neo-gothic St Petri Church a new brick building is completed for the community center of the church and neighbouring kindergarten This solitaire cubic brick block gives the north face of the Domplatz a new urban accent The church itself is one of the major works of the Hamburg architect Alexis de Chateauneuf It was built in 1849 on the grounds of the old St Peters Church from the 14th Century, which was destroyed after the Great Fire of 1842 In one of the aisles of the church hall now a vicarage is built The glass, translucent interior addition was also designed by architects Akyol Kamps Floor area/size m² Client Akyol-Kamps Architekten St Petri Kirche Naomi Telephone: (0173) S-Bahn: S1, S3 to Jungfernstieg U-Bahn: U1, U2 tp Jungfernstieg, U3 to Rathaus 6

7 photo: Dirk Verwoerd photo: Dirk Verwoerd New Alster Arcades Alsterarkaden Hamburg The historic Alster Arcades in the centre of Hamburg characterises the city between the Binnenalster and the Rathausmarkt However, while the old arcade dating from the 19th Century, has lost none of it's attraction, the newer part, with it's flat-roof construction and dating from the 1960's, has neither it's loftiness or it's generosity BRT's design, dating from 1998, has adopted the grace and form of the historical buildings, without merely copying them The theme of the old arcade is reinterpreted in a modern manner Over a length of approximately 80 metres, the partially transparent roof of the New Alster Arcades drapes like a long piece of material falling towards the Alsterfleet The regular rhythm of the parabolic arches serves to connect with the massive arches of their historic counterparts (text from architect's website) Floor area/size m² BRT Architekten pkrajewski_pl photo: Dirk Verwoerd 7

8 Glass pavilion restaurant Jungfernstieg Hamburg The DOC Italian restaurant is located in a glass cube pavilion, next to the Binnenalster with magnificent lake views Downstairs a bar, upstairs the restaurant The architecture of this glass gastronomic goodie is a bit controversial From the outside the glass pavilion looks like an ice cube, from the inside all prejudices melt, since the interior is anything but cool Great food On the ground floor lies a Hapag Lloyd travel agency Floor area/size m² André Poitiers Naomi photo: Kees van Dijk Daily from 12:00-23:00 info@doc-restaurantde Take the subway to Jungfernstieg, lines U1, U2, S1, S2 and S3 8

9 photo: Kees van Dijk kempertrautmannhaus Große Bleichen Hamburg kempertrautmannhaus is located in the heart of Hamburg, close to the prestigious Jungfernstieg quarter and the Inner Alster Lake The nine-storey building accommodates offices and shops on a prime site that had stood vacant for years It thus fills a gap in the inner city's business and shopping heartland The developers have created a transparent building that affords fine views of the Alster Lake from its upper floors The offices are open-plan, allowing the flexible positioning of desks and workstations appropriate to the communicative character of advertising work The reflections off the movable glass walls create the impression of space Project is not public! 2006 André Poitiers Naomi GOLFINO Shop Hamburg on the ground floor is open: Monday Friday hr Saturday: hr Telephone: Subway to Jungfernstieg or Gaensemarkt 9
