3 s u s p e n d ARCH 210 We were to choose a poetic verb that we would in turn create a pavilion that conceptualized this. All aspects of the facility was designed to ensure that the concept would be felt. The counter-clockwise path of the visitor leads them to the climactic central seat of the final suspension.

4 d r o p - o f f c a n o p y This is a project for a third year building systems class. The problem was a drop off lane on campus that needed a canopy for it and a mailbox. The solution is four canted brick columns and a system of suspension cables that hold a heroic wood beam system completely covering the lane. (roof membrane not shown)

5 d u a l i t y h o u s e ARCH 230 The design challenge was to create a house for two cohabiting individuals (a paleontologist and an art restorer). Both professions deal with the reassembly of broken, once assembled things. Each function of the house is separated into bars laid parallel to each other. These elements are shifted and broken in reference to each other while the long concrete axial piece is the central spine of the building suturing the form back together.

6 t o s p r e a d ARCH 310 We were to create an architectural form that conceptually expressed the verb spread. The project also had to have two more verbs associated with it in different aspects of the form. Structurally the form expresses support due to its relationship to the ground. Also, spatially, the verb expressed is to cantilever.

7 Foldtex l i v e w o r k ARCH 330 This is a live/work place for a man who develops products with Foltex, a new lightweight composite folding board material. He routes out seams in the wood layer while the exterior plastic remains intact and able to neatly fold. The conceptual notion is that the multi-layered terra firma shifts and buckles and program actually occurs in the buckled space. A C B A B C

8 L o u s i a n a C i v i l R i g h t s M u s e u m ARCH Downtown Shreveport The idea for this project stems from the overcoming of boundaries and experiencing transition and change. The entire exhibit is displayed on a wall connecting the six floors. As the visitor always views this exhibit at a distance but eventually, they are granted more access as they move higher. Also, the space around them grows more light filled and more expansive through changing ceiling heights and fenestration. Their final destination is the educational floor, the most enlightened space. Textural images etched in glass are able to be touched on the upper floor of the monumental stair. Lower floors exhibit darker, more violent content. The dark, bottom of the stairs.

The Public Area is kept as transparent as possible and creates a funneled link to the more intimate spaces of the home. We are predicting to receive a LEED Silver rating for our house which will make it the first residential project of its kind in North Louisiana. N
