2 The Benezet house The Benezet house is a 50x84 2 story dormitory/conference center with a capacity of 32 people It was built in 1905 and remodeled in the 1990 s, and a type II fire escape stairs was added at some point to the B side of the structure. It has a hip roof with asphalt shingles and 2x6 rafters It has a sprinkler system every where but the attic. There is no FDC. It is probably balloon frame construction built on brick piers.

4 Truck placement There is room for the attack pumper on sides A,C and D. There is room for the L271 on sides C and D. I will discuss different things to consider as we go around the building.

7 The A Side There are three entrances on the A side. The entrance on the A/D side is the main entrance, and the stairs best accessed from it. The other entrances go into rooms. The hydrant is at the A/D corner There are overhead wires

11 The Utilities The shutoffs are between the stairwell and the rest of the house You can shut the propane off here or at the tank The Main Breaker Box

12 Electrical shutoff The main breaker is at the bottom of the box The top breaker is not the main shut off

14 C Side Entrances The first entrance is the added on emergency exit The second entrance goes into a guest room first The main rear entrance is at the end of the wheel chair ramp

15 C and D side truck placement There is room for the Ladder truck on the B and D sides but there are over head wires to watch for on the D side

17 The first floor The alarm is right across from this candy machine as you enter the main entrance. The alarm is so loud that you will not be able to communicate until it is shut down

18 There are two sets of stairs as you come into the main entrance(this is the view from the top)

19 The second set of stairs is very narrow and would be hard to drag a hose up

20 The guest rooms are down the hallway to the left from the main entrance

21 The conference room The conference room is straight down from the main entrance

24 The second floor there are rooms guest rooms on both sides of the hallway. Some rooms are very small with two bunk beds and some are larger with several beds. When searching remember that all rooms share a bathroom with another room Shown in the picture are the attic stairs and the emergency exit on the B side

27 The attic There enough room in most of the attic to fight fire Some of the attic has wood floors, and in some places you are walking on the wood ceiling of the second floor and there is a danger of falling through Vertical ventilation of the structure by cutting a hole in the roof and smashing through the ceiling won t work

34 Getting to the building The best way most of the time is to go to the second entrance of Penn Center circle E and drive across the lawn just after you turn in unless the ground is muddy. Another good place is to drive past the parking sign on the A/B corner and turn in if it s not blocked by cars. You can also pull the fence post up further up Penn Center Circle, but some are stuck more than others There is an entrance in front of the daycare on the C side but it is tight and you will probably scratch the truck.
